Beautiful and historic quintessential New England
the location was perfect and the house has plenty of room.
Charming, old-fashioned, quintessentially New England summer house. The grounds are gorgeous and the house is spacious and peaceful. It's an old house (200+ years) and has a nice historic feeling. We had a large group and it never felt cramped. We loved the path to the private beach, the lighthouse, and our kids were crazy about all the bunnies who live in the yard! Kate and Dale are lovely and very responsive.
Great place for a family reunion but old and a bit worn. The separate guest house (windmill house) was very rustic and unfinished. There is a washing machine but no dryer so we used the clothes line. Not all the bedrooms are air conditioned. We brought 4 of our own portable fans. The property was great - plenty of room for lawn games, parking, and dogs and kids to run. Nice path to the beach but the sandy part of the beach is a private beach and was technically NOT for use by residents of this house! The "beach" we were supposed to use was all rocks (no real sandy beach). However, you can use the nice sandy beach to the left as you exit the pathway if you stay below the high tide line (by law all beach below the high tide line is "public"). The propane grill worked great. There are no beach towels and the beach chairs and other beach equipment was very worn. Bring your own beach towels and beach chairs. Overall it was a very nice experience and a great place for family to get together.
The house is lovely, and the pictures actually don't do it justice. It was comfortable, had everything we needed, and the small private beach was incredible. We tried the two town beaches as well, but nothing beat walking out the back door, through the woods, and setting up on a beach with a view. The area around Ned's Point Lighthouse is quiet, but lots of amenities extremely close by. In Mattapoisett you get the beach and the water without having to sit in the Cape traffic. Would absolutely rent again.
