Welcome to your whimsical stay in the wilderness, nestled peacefully in a rural setting. Watch the sunset on the Southern Alps tallest peaks and star gaze from your own outdoor tub. The property offers a unique accommodation experience with two cabins adjacent yet private from each other. Each cabin has its own story inspired by New Zealand pioneers which led to the naming of the property - The Two Tales. This listing is for the second cabin, Horace - named after mountaineer, Horace Walker.

High Country Cabin. Country getaway near Twizel.

High Country Cabin is a stylishly decorated cabin in the heart of the Southern Alps on the South Island of New Zealand. Inspired by the Backcountry huts throughout the area, it provides a rustic country-style experience. Situated 15 minutes outside of Twizel in the heart of the Mackenzie, it has direct access to all of the natural amenities that the area is world famous for including snow sports, mountaineering, hiking & tramping, mountain-biking, hunting & fishing among many other activities.

Paparoa Beach Hideaway One Bedroom House

Our One bedroom house and cedar hot tub are the perfect base for exploring the gorgeous West Coast of New Zealand. Surrounded by native bush with everything you need for a restful, cosy stay. The remote location offers privacy and seclusion for an indulgent holiday with loved ones and friends. Self-catering and self-check-in, with beautiful sea views. Guests love our well-equipped kitchens, large comfortable beds, and secluded location. Walking access to the beach is 10 minutes, offsite.

THE BIRD'S NEST - Secluded getaway!

The Birds Nest is a secluded and boutique cabin nestled amongst the tree tops and away from other houses. This luxury hideaway provides the peace and quiet of nature, whilst maintaining close proximity to all that the city and suburbs has to offer. Some highlights include relaxing in our private hot tub watching the sun set, strolls along the banks of the Heathcote river, and afternoon gelato just around the corner. The Tower, Okarito

The Tower is a comfortable two storey, seperate building with an upstairs bedroom with ensuite bathroom. It has excellent views of the sea and the Southern Alps. A warm, cosy and quiet space with a private garden. Free Wifi (system fully upgraded August 2021) Downstairs is the living room / kitchenette area. Upstairs and downstairs are connected by external stairs (see photos). Awesome outdoor bath - great for stargazing (new Aug 22). There are balconies on three sides of the tower.

Okari Cottage

Sunny private retreat with stunning coastal views . Look out to the waves from your bed with a deserted beach at the end of the driveway. Explore the local area beaches, surfing , river, seal colony and the Cape Foulwind walkway all within 2km . Good cell phone reception and wireless internet. The Cottage is very private, brand new and 50m from the main house. Full kitchen facilities with dishwasher and deck with BBQ and outside fire brazier. Smart TV with Netflix for lazy days.

Cosy alpine cabin in the high country

Embrace cosy, hygge-inspired living at Ruataniwha Hut – a welcoming wood fired cabin set in the high country of the Southern Alps. Sip coffee in the mornings while gazing at the mountains. So much more than a place to sleep - toast marshmallows around a private fire, take a bike on the West Coast Wilderness trail, kayak on our little lake! The Nest is a stand alone self contained unit with outdoor bath/shower, close to but separate from the main house. Set on 15 acres of private land, Hurunui Jacks has the Nest and a glamping tent nestled in beautiful West Coast native bush. A small private lake, historic water race & the Kaniere River are on your doorstep.
