Well heated and also has a wood burning stove and a game room The walled garden is home to horses, chickens, and a cat. There are greyhounds and other dogs on the grounds. The Castle is open for accomodation and tours.

It is surrounded by low walls and hedges: with a gated entrance controlled by an electronic security system. Features include 3 murders holes and a dungeon The castle was built by the DeBurgo family (approximately 1480). It had the distinction of being shelled by the British Gunboat ” Helga” during the1916 Rising to disband rebels
