If you are looking for a getaway that will deliver the ultimate level of peace and tranquility this beautiful lake house is for you. The property is stunning, with extreme care given to the landscaping and architecture. A small running stream is the only 'noise' you will hear except for birds chirping, and the wind blowing through the fountain grass. The home is well accommodated with anything you could ever need. Restaurant choices close to the house are limited so unless you choose to drive a distance consider packing food so you can cook in the home. The kitchen has everything you would need to prepare a meal. As a final note, I am usually a magnet for mosquitos but can say there were no mosquitos to be found. Surprising being in a lake location. I highly recommend this property - you will not be disappointed!

3rd summer in a row coming to this unique experience. I have said a lot about this wonderful lakehouse and the thoughtful host in my previous reviews. On this trip, we spent more time checking out the town of Mountain Dale and while its small, both the outdoor bar (amazing bar/'restaurant' in the woods just off of the main strip) and the restaurant on the main strip are very good both in terms of vibe and the food/drink offerings. I can't stress enough what a unique experience it is to be on a lake where there are no other dwellings besides you and the owners house. And its a big and beautiful lake, with endless wildlife and fishing/swimming/non-motorized boating fun. I feel lucky every time I am there and look forward to next time.

Gossamer lake is the perfect getaway. It’s close enough to NYC to be convenient, yet far enough away to experience the tranquility of the Catskills. The Boat House provides terrific accommodations for a relaxing lakeside stay. The property is magnificent. The entire experience is supremely civilized.
