伯克利 · 整套loft · 2室2床1.5卫 · 可住3人 · Elmwood ** Distinctive 2-floor Loft Apt
Whether you are visiting Berkeley to study, work, teach, visit friends or family, or attend a training course, this spacious 2 floor Elmwood apartment might be what you need. It's a short 10-12 minute walk to the UC Berkeley campus. The space This renovated 2-floor apartment is approx 960 sq ft (89 sq meters) in total. It has a somewhat unusual layout. The upstairs open-plan loft/living room/bedroom is 680 sq ft (63 sq meters), and the downstairs area is 280 sq ft (26 sq meters). Downstairs, the apartment features a kitchen, bathroom with double stall shower, and a den with a TV and a comfy sofa. The sofa in the den converts to a queen size bed for an extra guest or two (but it's technically not a "bedroom" since it doesn't have a closet). Upstairs is a large bright, sunny loft which serves as a combined bedroom and living space. There is an open-plan half-bath adjacent to the sleeping area (screened from the bed area but - important to note - it has no door). The bed is a custom-made king-size chest bed with storage drawers underneath. The apartment has hardwood floors throughout, except for the kitchen and bathroom which have tiled floors. It’s fully furnished and equipped – and decorated with accents such as etched glass, indirect lighting, and marble floor inserts, while retaining much of the original character. There’s a shared washer and dryer on the back landing. There is an off-street parking area adjacent to the building with space available on a first-come first-served basis. You can manage fine without a car for everyday purposes since there are many cafes, grocery stores, drugstore, and other shops within a few minutes' walk. Also, there's good public transport and Zipcar and City Car Share locations a block away. It’s suitable for 2 people, although as noted there is a convertible futon in the den that could be used for additional guests. Our rates are all-inclusive. We pay the Berkeley business license tax, but it is not charged to you. The City of Berkeley charges guests a 12% occupancy tax if you stay for less than 30 nights. The Neighborhood The apartment is in the Elmwood residential district, close to stores, cafes, sandwich shops, coffee houses, bookstores, music stores, and student hangouts on Telegraph Avenue. A CVS pharmacy is 2 blocks away; Whole Foods is 5 blocks. For foodies, there are numerous specialty and ethnic restaurants & cafes in several directions. Access The Berkeley Campus is 5 short blocks to the north – a 10-12 minute walk. It's 10 minutes' walk from Alta Bates Hospital. There are buses along College Avenue (one block away) to downtown Berkeley and the Rockridge BART station (Bay Area Rapid Transit system). The Claremont Hotel & Conference Center is just over a mile away – a 20 minute walk. There’s easy freeway access from Claremont Avenue, which enables you to drive to San Francisco, Oakland, Marin County & the Golden Gate Bridge, Napa Valley, and Lake Tahoe. Twenty minutes driving (outside of rush hours!) will take you to San Francisco across the new Bay Bridge, or if you take BART, it’s about a 20 minute ride to SF from Rockridge BART. Interaction Our delightful managers Binyam and Bruk (originally from Ethiopia) know this property well; Binyam did much of the remodeling work. One or both of them will check up on you after you arrive (it's a self check-in) and they will be available during your stay by phone or e-mail to answer any questions (as I will). Otherwise, we respect your privacy - you will have the place to yourself and won’t be disturbed. Pricing •Our rates are all-inclusive. We pay the Berkeley business license tax, but it is not charged to you. •The accommodation charge includes a one-time cleaning and stocking with an initial supply of essentials (soap, paper towels, shampoo, etc.) before you move in. We don't charge a separate cleaning fee. The fine print •Minimum 14 day stay as required by the City of Berkeley. •A 12% occupancy tax is charged on any stay of less than 30 days. •No smoking of any kind in the apartment or anywhere else in the building or on the property - the hallways, stairways, and the grounds! It's against the law: the City of Berkeley prohibits smoking anywhere in multi-unit buildings. We also prohibit vaping (e-cigarettes) because it creates many of the same issues as second-hand cigarette smoke. •This is a quiet residential apartment building, and we aim to keep it that way. Please respect your neighbors – no parties or loud noise! Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 a.m. • Also, please remove your outdoor shoes inside the apartment (or wear soft indoor shoes or slippers), and tread softly on the hardwood floors! The people living in the apartment below will appreciate it. • For residential purposes only (home office OK).
We really enjoyed our stay at the Loft. It is very well located and we especially enjoyed the large room and the comfortable bed. If we had any problems Bruk and Binyam responded immediately, they were very helpful and nice. Margret manages her airbnb apartments very professionally.
Margaret was very responsive and has a team of helpers who live closeby and are available within half a day. I was staying for a long time, so the fridge was smaller, and Margaret changed it immediately. The apartment is within walking distance of Downtown Berkeley and Rockridge (both at 20 mn). The 51B bus is two blocks away (less than 5 mn) so you can quickly go to the Rockridge Bart Station, Downtown Berkeley and the Berkeley Marina. Rockridge Bart Station gets you to San Francisco downtown and everywhere in San Francisco. Downtown Berkeley gets you to Oakland. A very young neighborhood filled with Berkeley students but very quiet as well. The apartment is spacious. This is an old home with the charm of a old home. Two rooms with an office can accommodate a couple. All in all, I recommend this appartment.
This apartment is two full floors -- quite enormous by Berkeley standards. And it has several beautiful features like the high ceilings in the loft, the huge comfortable bed, and the patio/terrace. The location is great. A bit of noise on weekends or holidays, as you would expect from a college area, but overall really great for getting work done (wifi was excellent, nice desk). The instructions for the apartment were out of date, and the place has a lot of quirks (e.g. related to the shower). But in the end it did not matter: the co-host Binyam was replying to messages within seconds, and anything that he could not deal with by text he would come over to check out in person.
I booked on behalf of colleagues, who all gave the place 5 stars when I asked! I didn't have much experience at the location, but the host has been extremely responsive and polite and easy to work with. Everybody is satisfied, which is a hard thing to pull off with so many people involved! Very happy about the experience here :)
It's a very walkable neighborhood. The UC Berkeley campus is 12-15 minutes' walk away. Coffee shops, restaurants, convenience stores, a CVS, and other shops are 5-10 minutes' walk away. There is a bus (No. 51-B) with a stop one block away. For vehicles, there's a shared parking area adjacent to the building with space available on a first-come first-served basis. Street parking has some restrictions.
自我介绍
Born in England, now living in California for many years. Two (!!) graduate degrees from UC Berkeley. I have been an Airbnb guest in the US and several other countries and have appreciated the experience of staying in a real home, a place with warmth and character, in an interesting walkable neighborhood. That’s what my co-host (my husband Jack) and I offer you, too, in Berkeley – a vibrant town with an internationally renowned university, distinctive architecture, innovative restaurants, serious coffee houses, bookstores, parks, museums, theater, a lively music scene – and conveniently close to San Francisco.
