Our house, "Casa do Jardim", is in Silves, a city of unusual beauty, with 9 centuries of history, still visible everywhere. The space we offer to those who visit us has charm, comfort, has life, color, has the history of Silves and the culture of the Portuguese people counted among furniture and other antique pieces and documents in a contrast desirable with others of great contemporaneity. Once a traditional Portuguese family home, the recently renovated guesthouse ‘Casa do Jardim’ has been in the same family for more than 100 years. Keen to retain it's unique character and soul, we have kept many original objects, pieces and memories in order to share a taste of the Portuguese culture and heritage with our guests. ‘Casa do Jardim’ is divided into 7 comfortable rooms: there are two bedrooms with a double bed each; one office with a sofa bed and a writing desk; a cosy day room with single bed; a living room with a TV and small DVD library; a dining room; a kitchen equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine; and one WC with showed. In the outdoor patio area, our guests can enjoy the Algarve’s fantastic sun, and cool down when needed with an open air shower on the decking. ‘Casa do Jardim’ is equipped with linen, crockery and all the necessary equipment that will make it your perfect holiday home. Free wi-fi is provided for the whole house. ‘Casa do Jardim’ borders a square of great beauty, facing a church from the 15th century, which is surrounded by jacarandas in the Municipal Garden. There are cafes and a supermarket by the square, and ‘Casa do Jardim’ is only 5 min walk from the old town, where all the stores and the Market are located. The city has a sports centre and swimming pool, leisure facilities and cultural buildings. Silves is a city of unique beauty, built over many centuries - occupied in turn by Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Christians - all of whom have left their visible marks. With a great historical heritage, the Castle (a military fortification unique in the country), the Medieval Bridge, Cathedral, Church of the Martyrs, Cruz de Portugal, Museum of Archaeology and its one of a kind Almohad cistern are all national landmarks. Silves had its peak during the Moorish occupation, becoming the capital of the Garb Al Andaluz and to honour those days of greatness, every year in the summer, a week-long medieval festival is held. The 'concelho' of Silves stretches from the mountains (where its 3 larg dams are located) to the sea, and the town of Silves itself lies only 14 kms away from its fantastic beaches. In a privileged geographical situation in central Algarve, is easy to reach any other places of interest by car, bus or train, making it a perfect base from which to explore the whole of the Algarve. Faro International Airport to Silves takes around 45 minutes by car, and a drive to Lisbon is around 2h30.
