Visitors will experience the warmth Jamaicans are known for. The experience was more like visiting family than a place to rest my head. Nature lovers will appreciate the fresh air and green surroundings. If you’re coming from St. Thomas side, it’s best to enter Rural Hill from the main road as the road will be much smoother.

Emancia is the nicest host you will ever get. Our plane landed late and we arrived in the dark and Emancia was there to greet us! This is a lovely home in a great community, surrounded by the mountains and the sea. Emancia and her mother cooked us an unbelievable Jamaican breakfast. This is real social and eco tourism and you will feel part of the family. We are definitely planning on going back.

Emancia’s place can only be described as paradise. Her 80-year-old mother co-hosts, and they are hard working, beautiful, and warm people. They made delicious meals for us, and insisted on sending us off with a hoard of fruits from her orchard. The house is on a large open space with a garden. The room has a private entrance from the back of the house, and looks onto the orchard. Emancia also took us on a tour of her farm, where one can spend hours bird watching and being just immersed in nature. The ecclesdown road is a bird watching hotspot, and is only 30min away. Reach falls is around the same distance away. And in case you don’t want to travel far, there are beautiful walks around the hill, just around the house. Keep an insect repellent close at hand. Emancia was a huge help in arranging transportation for us. There’s a jerk stand close by, where one can get chicken and beer. All in all, I highly recommend that one avails to Emancia’s beautiful home and hospitality. I would love to visit again, if time permits.
