This house and location were ideal for my family (my husband, teenage daughter, and me), and I would enthusiastically recommend it to my friends. The setting was beautiful: The waterfront house is located near the end of a small peninsula that extends into Casco Bay. The view from the back yard is of the Bay and several uninhabited islands, so the feel you get is that you're in the wilderness. We saw herons, cormorants, and various ducks. Only a few motor boats and paddlers came by. It truly is a private setting. You can sit out on the back deck and immerse yourself in nature. The owners do not have kayaks or canoes available, so you'll need to bring your own. But LL Bean's Paddling Center is less than a mile from the house, in case you're interested in signing up for a tour. The interior of the house is laid out so that you can get an excellent view of the Bay from the master bedroom, kitchen/dining area, the living room, and the common room in the basement. Furnishings are comfortable and stylish on the whole. The layout of the house is very well suited for a family with older children. The parents can stay in the master bedroom (which has its own full bathroom) on the ground floor, while the teens can stay in their own suite in the basement (with their own bathroom, bedroom, and common area with a door to the back yard/Bay. The kitchen is well equipped, and the bathrooms are well appointed with good water pressure in the showers. The entire place is very clean, and they have extra wipes in the kitchen. We rented this house because we wanted a quiet location where we could be in nature and close to places where we could go hiking. We enjoyed watching the birds and the tides roll in and out. We felt a sense of serenity that we hadn't felt in a long time. We visited the nearby Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park, where there are nice, scenic trails, the Mast Landing Audubon Sanctuary, and the Desert of Maine. We shopped a little in Freeport at LL Bean and Wilbur's Chocolate Factory Store. The Bow Street Market grocery store is nearby as well, if need be.

Overall a gorgeous location and a wonderful stay. We found the house very cozy, most amenities included and overall a very comfortable stay.
