Troya Home Stay is an Assam type bungalow with a garden and valley view. Just hundred meters down the hill, is a perennial stream and beyond on the horizon are the Mawpat Hills. With a huge room that comfortably houses 4 regular beds and a genuine fireplace, your stay is assured to be comfortable. An independent bathroom and a garden are at your disposal. Troya Home Stay is unique because it is great for groups (up to 4 guests) as you don't have to book separate rooms. That is why we don't accommodate single guests or groups of single men. We (the hosts) live above. We have two kids (12 and 15 year-old girls), 3 dogs, and a cat. Speaking of cats, our home stay is named after one of our cats Troya who lived for 20 years. Due to Covid protocols, we don't serve breakfast anymore but we now have a fully functional kitchen. The kitchen side of the bungalow is usually booked via another room (Pine View). Please inquire about the availability of the kitchen if it is absolutely necessary. When we don't have both rooms booked, guests can enjoy the entire ground floor. In this context, you can get the fireplace and the kitchen. Therefore, if the fireplace is absolutely necessary, then too please inquire before booking. Parking is available at a very nominal rate in a secure parking lot nearby. We also have a Jio Fiber connection at 150 Mbps which is completely free and a great asset for those who combine their business trips with their tourism. As locals who have lived in Shillong for many years, we organize taxis and English-speaking drivers who are extremely knowledgeable about tourist areas. Here is a review by our first Japanese guests: We had a great time at Troya Homestay. The host, Chaitanya and his family are very sweet and helpful in every respect. The room is very clean, cozy and spacious with attached bathroom. It is suitable for 1 or 2 persons. The hot water is available 24*7. (The room has a geyser) Wi-Fi speed is great. (It was fast enough to work) It is good enough if you are looking for a room with simple facility. The room does not have a central heating system. The host provided us with extra blankets and hot water bags in the night, which was enough to keep ourselves warm during the night. (It is quite cold in Shillong, so bring warm clothes) Breakfast can be provided with a small extra charge if more than 2 people. The house is in a calm residential neighborhood. The main commercial area is in walkable distance (15-20 mins walk). You can see lots of good cafes and local restaurant there. The place is on the hilly area, like any other places in Shillong. The house is accessible by car, but you need to be fit to roam around he neighborhood and Shillong city. The host family lives upstairs. The guests are expected to keep calm especially in the night.
