This was the most wonderful place to stay, the cabins have so much character and I felt so sad to go! Clive and Julie have put so much love not only into the building itself but in its atmosphere and intentionality. Everything was thought of(down to handmade herbal soap) and the breakfast hamper was delicious. Such a tranquil space and the garden is incredibly beautiful. So much information to be found in their booklet, with walks, local recommendations and all info you could possibly need about the cabin. Left feeling recharged and incredibly inspired by the land and it’s lovely custodians. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Clive was so welcoming, friendly and approachable. We felt comfortable the minute we arrived and even though the handbook was packed full of useful information he was happy to give us helpful advice on the best places to eat and their favourite walks. We arranged to have a walk around the forest gardens with Clive and it was inspiring to hear all about their project. So many nice walks in the area, an evening walk down to Redcastle is a must, straight from the cabin down to some amazing views. A beautiful spot, we highly recommend it.
Clive’s cabin was amazing, a clean and cozy space with everything you need in a lovely setting. Easy to reach by public transport and close to lovely walks!
We had a wonderful time at the Siskin cabin and Clive and Julie have been such wonderful hosts. They have created something beautiful that can be witnessed when you are physically there. We got this wonderful opportunity to slow down from our busy lives in the city, look at lovely views outside of the cabin, genuinely felt that less is more and learnt a bit about permaculture. The walks around have great views and the cabin is well equipped with everything that one needs. The breakfast hamper was yummy with fresh local produce and some tasty jam, granola , rye loaf and much more - absolutely recommend this as well. We will be back to see the garden in full bloom and it would be great to have more people visit and experience this amazingly sustainable tiny home.
Have already recommended to friends and family. I love how peaceful the area is. We missed out on doing activities and exploring The Black Isle as I booked this weekend for a reality get-away - and very last minute too! We hope to return in the near future and do all the exploring we can. Clive was a wonderful host, explained everything in detail, recommended outings and things to do around the area on our arrival. Would love to have a wee tour around the garden next time, and hopefully meet Julie. The Breakfast Hamper was definitely one of my favourite things - if I could choose 2 things to eat for the rest of my life, it would be the homemade Rye Sourdough and Jam!

We are Clive and Julie, who live on the Black Isle, just north of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. From our home here we run The Warren Forest Garden and Eco Cabins, offering eco friendly accommodation and creative residencies. Our focus is Permaculture, gardening with nature, arts, crafts and creativity. We self built our eco cabins and wanted to make them unique, sustainable and somewhere that we would love to stay ourselves!
