We were driving towards Munsiyari via the bageshwar, Kapkot route, and Bhawna and Shankar's home was an amazing stopover for us. They were genuinely the nicest people we met in Uttarakhand. Their home was very well kept and we loved the hospitality they showered on us. Bhawna showed us her vegetable garden, and the freshest veggies she grows. Shankar, her husband dazzled us with his knowledge about Uttarakhand, its culture, the treks and hikes the state offers and much much more. Shankar is a fluent French speaker so French tourists will have a great time too. Now to the main event of the stay at Bhawna and Shankar's place - THE FOOD!!! oh my god, the food was just divine. With the freshest veggies from the garden and skillful preparation by Bhawna, the food was to die for. In the night we lit the camp fire and Shankar and Bhawna cooked all the Ragi rotis in the Chulha and we sat in front of the fire, with great company, with great local stories, and ate our super tasty food.

While on the way to Munsyari form Rishikesh, we needed a short break so we zeroed down on Shankar and Bhavana's cozy home at Gagrigol adjacent to Baijnath. It is located on Bageshwar road. Shankar ji personally picked up and carried our luggage as home is bit inside from the road. I loved the warm hospitality by both of our hosts. I enjoyed the kumaun food served with love. i remember conversations with shankar ji over local culture and his journey in life with his love for french language. Surrounding of home are fabulous with farms and fields . I particularly liked sarso ke khet! i hope to visit again to explore more!
