Nestled in the Karkloof foothills, close to Albert Falls Dam, at the confluence of the Umgeni and Karkloof rivers, Ukuthula farm is a private game farm, just 20 minutes outside of Pietermaritzburg. We offer thatched self-catering chalets, ideal for families. Guests are encouraged to explore the farm at their own leisure. Walk, run or cycle our trails, taking in the stunning views, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Or soak in the sun at the River boma, where guests can swim, fish and braai. The farm is home to giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, eland and a variety of smaller game species. There is a rich bird-life for anyone keen on birding. The views from Ukuthula farm of the surrounding hills and valley are sensational, with each chalet having its own unique aspect on the hillside for guests to take in. Units are well spaced apart from one another, allowing privacy and a sense of escape from the day to day hustle and bustle. The self-catering chalets are ideal for families (2 Adults, 3 Children). Chalets all have an open plan layout with one queen bed on the lower floor with a kitchenette and bathroom. Upstairs is an open plan loft room with 3 single beds, ideal for children. There is a deck leading off the front with a private braai facility. The river boma situated at the confluence of the Umgeni and Karkloof rivers, and is a spectacular fishing spot (particularly Yellow fish), with braai facilities and a children's jungle gym, a space where the whole family can enjoy themselves. On the walking/running trails, the suspension bridge is a great experience. We have 5km, 10km and 15km routes, which all follow natural game paths.
