We happened upon this place because of the time of year, I think, or it would have been fully booked. This sweet and cute place and is 20 minutes outside of Gloucester downtown, so take all your morning needs with you. I had the best icecream (the Berry and goat cheese was amazing) and a lovely historic downtown with many interesting shops and friendly, wonderful people. I fell right in love. You will find everything you need and some piece of the beauty in Virginia, about 50 min to Williamsburg. The fishing was geat fun and and next time I hope it's warm enough to attempt the kayaking. You will also get safety gear, and fishing rods, so don't pack any. At night there are many board games. It's a great stay for a family that is looking for something different. A screened porch with comfortable seating and a great view will soon let you grab your holliday book. Pack your absolute essentials and have a great time. Your hosts are a call away. This home is beautiful & Betsy made everything so easy with detailed instructions & quick responses. Everything is exactly as is in pictures & we felt at home instantly. My family couldn’t get enough of the lake view when having dinner, definitely would stay again.

This was our second "winter" stay at this location. My husband and I both were planning a weekend just to get away and relax. We were looking for a place that was calming and, on the water, - this location fit the bill! We enjoyed having coffee while looking at the water, reading books, doing crossword puzzles, playing games and watching a movie. We work in jobs that require us to be "on" all day so a get-away that isn't too far of a drive was just what we envisioned. Our rainy day was perfect and cozy, and our sunny day allowed us to explore Gloucester. We grilled one night and everything in the kitchen and at the grill was set up for success. The location was quiet in the winter and it is probably booming with activity in the warmer months. My husband and I plan to book again for the summer or fall so we can take advantage of sitting on the dock or the enclosed porch and, who knows, maybe we will kayak and enjoy being in the water instead of just looking at it.
