Bladnoch is bright, spacious, elegantly styled and completely comfortable. Mary Jane went above and beyond for my family (we were visiting from the US and were perhaps more easily confused than the average guests). Her exquisite home was the perfect basecamp for adventure, with dozens of historic sites (and sea) within an hour's drive to making sure we got to every single bookstore in Wigtown. Note that Bladnoch's hot tub is of a Nordic design...it might surprise a guest. You have to fill it yourself, then build a fire to heat it, which takes a few hours. Don't let this be a deterrent-it makes the experience so much more rewarding in our instant-gratification culture. We filled it 3 times in the weeks we stayed with fresh clean water, retracted the roof to see the stars, and were never annoyed by the task (once we understood it). Easiest to say: EVERYTHING was far above average at Bladnoch. A home offered to you by hosts who know what good living should look like.

Had a wonderfully relaxing peaceful week's holiday at The Haven. It really does live up to its name. We didn't use the hot tub in the end, but it looked lovely and in better weather with clearer skies, sitting there with the retractable roof would've been lovely. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, as was the living room. We spent quite a few hours over the week enjoying the view and the warmth of the wood burning stove. The oven, hob and microwave was very easy and straightforward to use. There was always plenty of hot water and it was always warm in the house. The weather was atrocious while we were there so we very much appreciated coming back to a warm house. It's close to shops and lots of lovely walks in forests and beaches. The pub at the end of the road has an open fire and reasonably decent food. We also visited the distillery. Would recommend Bladnoch whiskey! We would highly recommend The Haven. We would love to come back again in the spring.

We had a really lovely break. The Haven was spotlessly clean and really well equipped. The beds were really comfortable. Mary Jane was so quick to respond to any queries we had and was a great host. We really enjoyed exploring the local area. We as a family with two teens and two dogs particularly enjoyed the Galloway forest with its walks and mountain bike trails. We found the area very dog friendly and were able to take the dogs most places including the BLADNOCH distillery cafe and shop. I enjoyed a tour of the hills and harbour gin distillery and highly recommend. All in all a beautiful place to celebrate my 40th birthday. We had a great time in beautiful accommodation.

The Haven was an excellent choice for us. Mary-Jane proved to be an excellent host, very quick to respond to question and proactive in giving tips for places to eat and things to do in the local area. The property was excellent in every way, perfect for our needs, and our dog enjoyed the garden. The hot tub is an excellent addition and proved to be a great way to unwind after a long day seeing the sights. The local pub was a huge bonus, good food, good atmosphere, very friendly people, and a couple of minutes walk away......and dog friendly. Wigtown is about a 15min walk away or a couple of minutes drive, the bookshops are well worth a visit and there is a couple of places to eat as well as a good "Chippy". I would highly recommend The Haven as the perfect place for a stay in this area and should we return I would have no hesitation in booking again.
