Rukiya Safari Camp is located in the Wild Rivers Nature Reserve neighbouring the Greater Kruger. It is a tented camp built beneath old riverine trees on the banks of the Blyde River. All elements of the camp’s construction and location are orientated around keeping things natural, low impact, and serene. There is a large, rim-flow swimming pool sprawled out between the tented chalets and the main lounge and dining area, which is the magnetic central area of the camp. Sun loungers offer the perfect place to relax in the dappled shade with the view of the riverbank ahead. There is a pod of hippos that spend the majority of their time in a a deep pool in the river in front of the tents, and crocodiles are seen daily in the river. There is a host of birdlife including rare species such as Pets fishing Owl (regular heard calling) and African Finfoot which is seen almost daily. The grass floodplain in front of the lodge provides ideal grazing for waterbuck and other antelope and every now and then a Leopard or Hyena pay a visit. If wildlife is your thing then the lodge offers guided walks and safaris in open vehicles in Wild Rivers and neighbouring Greater Kruger, which is home to the big 5. These are done by professional guides. This listing is for one room but it is possible to book multiple rooms for larger group sizes. There are 6 canvas and timber tented suites, elevated on wooden stilts, beneath the riverine trees on the Blyde riverbank. Of the 6 tents, 2 can accommodate families of 4, while the rest can each sleep two people in twin or king beds (these can be made up to suit your requirements). The family tents are subdivided and share a bathroom, so perfect to accommodate parents and two children under 12. Total capacity is 16. All tents have en suite bathrooms, separated from the bedrooms by a zip-down canvas doorway, and containing a shower, vanity station, and toilet. Each of the standard tents extends onto a wooden balcony with seating overlooking the river or bush.
