Fabulous location property warm ( in a very cold week ) very comfortable and a great place to stay for a peaceful break

Fabulous place to stay. The position is knockout - a lighthouse keepers cottage attached to the lighthouse. You don’t notice the light beam at night, and there is no foghorn any more. The sense of peace is amazing - though we were her in calm weather! .The accommodation itself is very comfortable and well-kitted out. There is a large bathroom with shower-over, and a separate large shower room as an en-suite. Two double bedrooms and two single bedrooms, one of which overlooks the sea. There are Sea views from living room, dining room and kitchen. It’s couple of miles from Swanage with its ample shops, beach and steam train, and is itself located in the magnificent Durlston Country Park nature reserve. There’s a decent cafe at the country park hub, which is an up-and-down shortish walk from the lighthouse along the rough-ish coastal path (or a drive of about a mile along the road). The lighthouse is amazing. The location is brilliant and the cottage is well equipped. The water is not suitable for drinking and bottled water is provided. We did need more due to having two small children and making bottles. We all slept well and had a brilliant time. One thing to note is if bringing bikes (like us) it’s very hilly!

We all loved Veronica cottage. The location was superb as was the cottage - the rooms were very attractive . We did have few issues, some of which Rural Retreats and the excellent Housekeeper were able to respond to immediately. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and very helpful. On arrival, we couldn’t find the gate to Anvil Point. A large scale local map would have helped as a guide through the 2 car parks . A winter arrival, after dark, for 2 of us wasn’t simple! The old key holder box was difficult to use from arrival on day one and until we left. Apparently now replaced. Instructions for use would be good. Bottled water was supplied but again, no instructions as to when to use.The fire door had a faulty lock and a rusty, unusable key. We couldn’t use that door but again the lock and key were checked after we left. Rural Retreats were quick to respond and much appreciated .

A fabulous location and house. Amazing views from the kitchen windows. The two king size beds are very comfortable.
