You do need to drive across a creek, just go slow and don’t stop and you should be fine. Once you get there you will have an amazing surf beach that is super easy to access day or night, just be mindful of the tide and the occasional falling coconut. The hotel staff really make sure you have everything you need for your stay, from surfboard rentals to Coiba tours to daily housekeeping. There’s even a restaurant on the property with really good food, just don’t wait until you are super hungry to go. The wifi is better in the restaurant and the cell service (Tigo) was ok, not fast, but workable if you’re a digital nomad. Occasional power and water outages lasting 3 to 12 hours so keep your electronics charged and have an extra bottle of water ready for the toilet/showering or washing hands.

Santa Catalina is a very special place and Oasis is the most delightful spot in the area, on the best beach at the very end of the road. This is the best of the cabins, being an extra story up, off by itself with a very serviceable outdoor shower and excellent hammocks on the deck and air conditioning for the bedrooms for those afternoons when the beach is just too hot. The breeze is always blowing and the ocean can always be heard, very serene. When arriving, be sure you are prepared for the vagaries of time and tide, ie. when the tide is high, you can be wading through hip deep water, though most of the time, and ankle deep dip will get you there. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Loved our time there.
