The Nest is such an apt name! Cozy little space in the heart of Melrose. Thank you to Rachel for being an amazing host.
An excellent location for lovely long weekend, in a lovely part of the world, even though I insisted on no fuss Rachel left a lovely bottle of wine and snacks - which were most welcomed. Perfect little getaway spot. Thank you Rachel, we really appreciate your hospitality
A really lovely gem in the Borders - immaculately clean, cosy, and with a particularly well equipped kitchen. We loved our stay when we were visiting family locally, and enjoyed exploring the delights of Melrose which were extremely close by and all walkable. The property is very peaceful, self contained, and comfortable, with very clear instructions and a lovely welcome basket of breakfast foods as the cherry on the cake. Thanks for a lovely stay!
The Nest was a lovely place to spend Easter Weekend with our dog, Billy. Rachel is the perfect host and had thought of everything from a welcome basket, dog bowl, dog throws and recommendations on what to see and do locally. If you book The Nest for your stay in Melrose you will not be disappointed
The Nest is a one minute walk from the town centre & a two minute walk to Melrose Abbey. The cottage is situated 50 yards from the start of the Eildon Hill walk & St. Cuthbert’s Way. The Trimontium Roman Museum in Melrose offers guided walks to the nearby fort site in Newstead as well as a guided Melrose town walk.
Melrose is a small town & easily accessible by foot. The River Tweed is a five minute walk from the cottage as well as footpaths to the small villages of Gattonside, Newstead & Darnick. A one minute walk from the cottage is a bus link to Galashiels & beyond to Peebles & Edinburgh or towards Berwick-upon-Tweed & the coast. Tweedbank Station is a 20 minute walk from Melrose or you can choose to take the frequent bus service. The Borders Railway operates from Tweedbank with an hourly train service to Edinburgh Waverley. The Scottish Borders is also wonderful to explore by bike with the Borders Abbeys Way cycle route stopping in Melrose to take in the Abbey. Melrose is also well located for national cycle routes as well as many local routes. There is also plenty free on street parking right outside the cottage.
