Next door to Tipple Tree Guesthouse (the managers), AJ Palms is on the beach with 3 rentals each with a separate entrance. Cocoplum is close to restaurants, groceries, and is an ideal base for tours around the area. Located on a beach with shady palms - in a Garifuna fishing village. Hopkins is a beach village that gives you access to kayaking, snorkeling, diving the barrier reef, jungle treks, and Mayan ruins. *Night time 'bedroom only' A/C included *9% Belize Gov tax is collected upon check-in Cocoplum is the lower beach front apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one being en-suite). Each bedroom has ceiling fans and A/C. The rate includes A/C in the bedrooms, and only for night hours. There is no A/C in the living/dining/kitchen area of the apartment. There are usually sea breezes, and the apt has big windows and fans. Cocoplum has an open concept kitchen/living area. The living room has two couches, coffee table, a flat screen TV with cable tv showing both US and Belize channels. Our couches are not beds. Please sleep in the bedrooms. The kitchen has all the basic cooking equipment needed to prepare your own meals. Your private veranda faces the Caribbean Sea. Beach towels are provided. Cocoplum is ideal for two couples travelling together, or for a family.

Absolutely lovely spot right on the beach! Love how this spot is in the heart of the local culture, definitely recommend!
Tricia’s place was great. Step off your front porch and into the sand of a beautiful, private beach that the hosts clean daily. The house is toward the end of the main strip of restaurants in Hopkins, quiet enough to relax but very close to walk (about 15 minutes). The home was well-equipped with kitchen supplies and anything you need in paradise. Tricia and Doug are lovely people and great hosts. I’d highly recommend staying with them.
Die Unterkunft von Tricia, liegt direkt am Strand, der 1a gepflegt ist. Wir haben uns dort so unfassbar wohl gefühlt! Wir haben von der Terrasse aus sogar Delfine und Manatees gesehen. Wirklich unglaublich! Das Apartment ist toll ausgestattet mit allem was man braucht oder brauchen könnte. Tricia und Doug sind supernett und hilfsbereit und helfen bei allen Belangen. Wir hatten selten so eine aufmerksame Gastgeberin. Vielen lieben Dank für alles!
Tricia and Doug were very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive to our every need. This was the third place we stayed over 21 days in Belize and hands down the best service we had. The large beautiful beach was raked every day. The deck overlooked the water. Usually a breeze kept the bugs away and cool on the deck in the evenings.
Tricia was a fabulous host and very responsive to our queries. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and we will certainly stay there next time we are in Belize. If you are a beach person, this is beach heaven!

AJ Palms is in the village of Hopkins, which is part of the charm I think, but I also know that it is not what everybody is looking for.
Hopkins is still very much a village community in a developing country, we are a village, not a resort tourist destination. Hopkins is a wonderful community with a unique Garifuna culture, come to Hopkins with that in mind, embrace a different land and culture, and you will love it.
If you are looking for an isolated, or resort experience, for your vacation, then we may not be the right place for you.
Being in the village can sometimes mean you will hear children, dogs, radios, chicken and roosters, and we do have a restaurant that has opened up next door that sometimes plays loud music, but mostly you will hear the breeze through the palm trees and the sound of the waves.
Belize is still a developing country, the main highways are paved, but some roads are still dirt. With this comes potholes and unmarked speed bumps on occasion.
From the International airport to Hopkins is 3 hours drive on paved roads.
You can also reach Hopkins from BZE with a flight to Dangriga, with the bus or with a shuttle.
The closest unexcavated Mayan ruins, waterfalls, zipline, and jungle hikes are just 10 miles away.
The closest excavated Mayan ruins are two and a half hours drive from here, either west or south. Every guide offers tours to these places from the village, but a lot of people who stay here drive there themselves, the ruins are not hard to find.
Snorkeling at the barrier reef is a 40 minute boat ride from Hopkins and half day or full day tours are offered by tour guides throughout the village.

I am the owner and manager of a guesthouse in Hopkins since 1998 and I've managed AJ Palms Apartments since 2014. I'm British by birth, and naturalized Belizean by choice. I lived in Germany, off and on, for 10 years before moving to Belize. I am fairly good at speaking German, not all that great at writing it - but I am willing to try. I've always felt renting out my rooms and apartments is like renting out a part of my home, hopefully my guests get to feel the same way when they I host them. I'm enjoying my life on the beach.
