Rolis and his family are amazing host, taking great care of their guests such as in the morning you will wake up to freshly home cooked breakfast and aromatic coffee or tea. Rolis himself is extremely passionate of developing Kerinci’s into a tourist haven and has consistently been taking approaches to making it happen. He knows his hometown inside and out and will bring you to places only known to the locals. The Kerinci hiking tour is superb with the porter cum guide caring for all aspects of your need (food, tent, looking out for your safety...) Only thing you may want to take note is the distance to and fro Padang city, especially when taking the shared taxi. A supposing 6-7 hr ride may become 10 hr as the driver may pick up other passengers along the way, take breaks in between and traffic conditions. Don’t plan your trip too compact because this is Indonesia after all ;-)

Rolis made our stay in Kerinci Valley the adventure-highlight of our holiday! He helped us organize guides for a 2-day-hike to the summit of" mount kerinci" and for a 2-day-hike to the "seven mountains lake". He also showed us the closer area around the beautiful cinneamon lodge. We saw hot springs a beautiful waterfall, a sugar cane farm and many other things. Rolis seems to know so many stories about that magical valley and its people and fights for the general awareness towards a plastic-free nature. On top of all that: you get a very yummy breakfast in a tree house every morning!

Pak Rolis is hospitable and really friendly. Getting to kerinci is quite a lengthy process but he managed to organized for us a private van to fetch us from padang airport. Besides running the homestay, he runs a cafe and also provides a tour to a few places around kerinci itself. We took the tour up Mount Kerinci and was not disappointed at all. His package includes everything; from transport to tent and food supplies. We ended the trip with a delicious meal cooked by Pak Rolis' family. I wouldnt mind visiting Kerinci because of him and his family. Missing Kerinci now!
