J'ai beaucoup apprécié mon séjour dans la maison de Romes : c'est un hôte formidable et sa chambre est très agréable et bien située dans le village ! Je recommande vraiment !!

We stayed with Romes for 3 nights. There was a problem initially because we couldn't get in touch with Romes to organise a drop off with our bus driver coming from Bengkulu. However we eventually managed to sort it out and then proceeded to have a great stay. Romes' house is next to the market at Siulak Gedang. Siulak Gedang is a lovely area about 12km or 20 minutes by bus north of Sungai Penuh with friendly locals who often want to stop and interact with visitors. Romes provided delicious breakfasts and went out of his way to take us to places like hot springs and organising our walk to Danau Kaco. It can be a bit noisy at times with prayer calls and village life but didn't bother us at all. Would be very happy to stay there again.

I chose Romes' place as the previous reviews were very good, and we were not disappointed! Romes and his family were very kind and helped our stay be as comfortable as possible. For the price, he includes breakfast, unlimited drinking water, tea and coffee, and hot water in the morning. He gave us local tips, great routes to views along the way and accompanied us to Ganung tujuh (as he was headed there anyway) where his wife wangled us out of the ridiculous 150k tourists fee (per person!) to a respectable 50k. We ended up staying 4 nights, despite the whole village being awake shortly after 4am. Prayers and market noise will wake you up intermittently but we were too tired from our hikes to be truly annoyed. There are local food and shops nearby, room is spacious and toilets clean. Wifi wasnt working at the time but we had sim data so not too much of issue for us. Will miss this place! Thank you Romes!

Great place! Pak Romes’ English is strong and he is very responsive; communication was easy. He organized my transportation to and from his place and let me checked in really early. As I was traveling by myself and I don’t speak Bahasa Indonesia, these attentions were more than appreciated. ** The distance to Mt Kerinci is not a problem; public transportation is a block away from his house.. and Pak Romes will walk you there! The room allows you enough privacy to rest before and after your hike.
