Nice, peaceful, very clean house. Beautiful area. And a lot of BOOKS! GREAT LIBRARY! We visited this area for fishing. For next our trip will try to book this house again! Definitely!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Easter weekend stay at Erik’s home in Shokan. Unlike many Air bnb’s I’ve stayed in over the years, Erik’s place looked exactly as advertised in the photos. Everything worked well - from the kitchen appliances to the bathroom fixtures to the TV and the WiFi. The house was also spotlessly clean when we arrived. The house is on a quiet residential street close to Ashokan Reservoir, which is stunning, and offers many pretty walking trails and views. Although nothing is walkable from the house, many attractions - cute towns, restaurants, hiking trails- are a 10-30 min drive away. The only downside to this house is the tap water- it smells and tastes very strongly of sulfur. We tried to drink it but the taste was too foul for us. We ended up buying bottled water to use during our stay. I would recommend guests do the same. Otherwise, we had a very pleasant stay and would love to come back again soon!

Great hideaway in the woods! Huge yard, and it being pet friendly met we could bring our pup and have her run around and play outside. The wood stove was a nice touch - was fun starting a fire every night, although you should bring some kindling wood / fire starters to make that easier (we ended up buying some at the local market). Having 1.5baths made it easier as two couples staying there. Because it's in the woods, there are some things that come with the territory - the water had a pretty strong sulfur smell, and you have to pack out your trash & recycling. Minor things though, it's still totally worth it and I'd come back again for sure. Erik was very communicative leading up, and what's better was that we had no reason to reach out our entire stay - we had everything we needed!
