This place was far more than we expected. Dende's family made us feel very welcome, we felt we were part of their community. They took us unforgettable places, far away from mass tourism. Trips and services were great. Highly recommend for everyone who are looking for unique experiences!

I spent three fabulous days at Dende’s place and couldn’t recommend it enough. By the end of it I quite literally felt like I’d been there for weeks. If you are looking to discover the less well trodden parts of this area and are up for socialising and feeling part of a community for a bit then this is for you. You can rent a scooter and explore the area which is replete with enormous caves with subterranean pools, mangrove rivers, hidden lagoons and waterfalls. Dende can hook you up with local people so you can see these amazing things for minimal expense and support the local community at the same time. In the evenings, you can do what you like but we ended up chatting and drinking in the evenings on the floating ‘bar’ which also doubles up as a music venue (Dende is a keen guitarist and anyone remotely musical is encouraged to get involved - no pressure though!). The room I stayed in was perfect, clean and I had no issues whatsoever. Dende’s wife cooks a mean breakfast and dinner - the food was excellent. This was probably the highlight from my time in Thailand. If you want an authentic stay then look no further.

Dende's place is an absolute oasis. The homestay in itself is made up of multiple accommodations nestled within lush forests surrounding a quiet pond and backing up to magnificent cliffs. No matter where you are in the homestay you feel secluded and one with nature. The room within itself was comfortable and clean (aside from the occasional ants, but its the forest so its to be expected). The air conditioner was very effective and made for a pleasant sleep and the free wifi was without a doubt the best wifi connection I had all trip. The best part about the stay though would have to have been the convenience about everything. The level of hospitality was that of any 5 star resort in my opinion. Three delicious homemade meals were offered every day (breakfast for free and lunch and dinner for a small fee) and every experience was planed by Dende. On day one he offered to take anyone that was interested to a local watering hole for a swim which was beautiful and relaxing followed by a trip to the carnival down the street which was a nice little surprise. On day two we chose to participate in the kayaking trip he offers which was incredible followed by a long tail boat trip at sunset to private islands which was even more incredible. I wish I could detail the experiences further but you just have to see it for yourself, you won't regret it. In addition, I have to say that Dende is not only a great host but a great citizen. Multiple times he went out of his way to help the local community whether it was by purchasing fish directly from the fish farmer while we were on our boat trip (which he later prepared for all of us to enjoy) or by employing a local single mother (who was an angel in herself) as our tour guide for the kayaking trip. Overall, Dende and his family are doing things right. I guarantee anyone who stays with them will leave feeling like family as I did even after staying for only three nights. I cannot wait to come back and bring my own family with me next time.
