Beth and Dave were fantastic hosts, very friendly and helpful with information and even went out their way to try and phone local contacts when the info centre was closed. They communicated from booking and all the way through the weekend itself with lots of local info (walks,cycle routes etc) the cottage itself was lovely, very clean and tidy and all the amenities needed for a perfect stay. All in all a great cottage in an ideal location and fantastic hosts and very reasonable prices so if in the area again we will definitely look to stay here again. Highly recommended!
The cottage was just as described , immaculate.Lovely personal message on arrival and beforehand great recommendations for places to eat , so helpful . Beautiful enclosed garden if you have a dog, Frank loved it .Great walks from the door and just a perfect stay . Recommended, go stay
A lovely place to stay if you're wanting to experience The Galloway Forest. Highly recommend. We'll be back to stay again.
We visited Beth & Dave’s cottage at the beginning of March with our dog for 3 nights. The cottage is perfectly located if you are wanting to explore the beautiful national park, with walks right from the front door. We arrived to a lovely welcome message and some treats for our dog! The welcome pack that Beth & Dave supply is amazing, lots of information for the cottage and so many maps and walks around the local area and from your front door. The cottage is lovely and warm with a log burner in the living room, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. The garden is a good size and well fenced, so good if you have a dog. The village is very cute & friendly, with a community centre (the hive) just down the road, they do great coffee and cake! We were also very lucky to have a clear night and experience the incredible dark skies. One of our favourite trips to Scotland for sure and we would definitely recommend Beth & Dave’s cottage - we are hoping to visit again soon :-)

Hello! We are Dave and Beth, and we are lucky enough to live in beautiful Glentrool in the Galloway Forest. We moved here 10 years ago and love it here :-) Culsharg Cottage and Kelpies Cottage are next door to our house, so we have first-hand knowledge of what makes this place so magical and special, and we love to share this with our guests! Dave is a professional photographer, and living in the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park he takes advantage of the starry skies here. You can see some of his photos, all of the local area, in the cottages. Beth designs and makes jewellery (you will find some of her pendants for sale at Glentrool Visitor Centre) and is also a student with the Open University, studying for a maths degree. We both love the outdoors and enjoy running, loch swimming (Beth) biking (push bike and motorbike - Dave), and hill walking (both of us!). We love exploring both here in Glentrool and all over our beautiful country. We are always happy to chat about the best ways to enjoy our amazing countryside, and offer suggestions for walks, swim spots or bike rides. If wild swimming is your thing, Beth swims regularly in our local lochs and is always happy to have extra company and show you the best swim spots.
