This was a beautiful oasis for our group. We spent the day exploring neighbouring towns and beaches and came back for the sunset every night. We opted to cook most of our meals, so we stopped at a grocery store on the way from Liberia airport and when we ran low we went to a store in Nosara while visiting. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, it really felt like our own home. The pool and view is even more beautiful in person, it was a perfect way to end our evening. It rained for a couple hours in the late afternoon on two occasions but the roads still remained safe and easy to access with our 4x4. We felt really safe and met some of neighbours and their sweet dogs. Quen was very responsive and provided great instructions to the airbnb. Diego met us there and gave us a full tour. We highly recommend staying at Casa Rarebird!

I can’t even describe how perfect our stay was. Our host, Quen and the property manager Diego were unbelievably responsive and helpful durning our stay, to the extent that they even gave recommendations on local activities and checked daily to make sure all of our needs were met. The property is far more beautiful and luxurious than the photos even show - from the well designed and maintained landscape to the privacy and solitude of the highest point in the area, this place is an absolute gem. Everything worked as described and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. The towns of San Juanillo and Nosara had lovely local places to dine, as well as grocery stores to stock the kitchen. As the listing says, a 4WD vehicle is needed to get up to the residence, but the gorgeous San Juanillo beach and some bars / restaurants are an easy drive only minutes away. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a private getaway but with the luxury of a quaint town’s culture/food.

Casa rarebird, def was exactly that! A very rare gem!! First off, Quen and Diego were far and away the most lovely and genuine of hosts, they were nothing short of helpful and insightful in offering ideas and opportunities to experience local Costa Rica in a multitude of different ways. Right from before we even boarded to leave Quen was in contact to ensure all was in order. The house was perfectly located as far as private mountain top with ocean view villas can be, quietly tucked away in a remarkably close to the nearest little town (san juanillo) kinda way! It was comfortable and private beyond expectations! The layout and decor was well planned and functional to a t!!!! The infinity pool out back and patio was where the majority of the our time there was spent. Not because of the lack of comfort or anything inside which was nothing short of home away from home!! We would stay there again and we plan to make casa rarebird a yearly experience for us and our families

Our stay at Casa Rarebird was fantastic. Quentin communicated very well prior to our arrival and during our stay. Her property manager Diego was also great during check in/check out. Both were always very quick to respond. We are a family of four - 2 adults & 2 teenagers. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax and having 2 bathrooms was very nice. The home was clean and tidy upon arrival. The kitchen was well supplied. The view from the patio was amazing and the pool was very refreshing at the end of the day and evenings. The road to the property is pretty bumpy so a 4WD vehicle is best - but the short drive is well worth it as the hill top views are spectacular! I strongly recommend a stay at Casa Rarebird!

We loved our stay here! Just a few minutes’ drive to San Juanillo beach and Ostional. We could hear howler monkeys every morning and evening, saw tons of birds, and a coati came up right by me near the pool one morning. The view is absolutely gorgeous and it’s so peaceful there. Diego was super helpful when we arrived after dark and needed directions to the grocery store. Quen sent us tons of recommendations for things to do and was highly responsive to any questions we had. You definitely want 4WD, but the roads weren’t at all hard to navigate with the right car. Maybe it’s worse during the rainy season, but we found driving there to be pretty easy overall.
