The newly renovated house is situated in the centre of a beautiful old village which is dominated by the magnificent fairytale castle of Jumilhac with at its feet the river l'Isle. You even have a view of the castle from the private back garden. Shops, bakery, hairdressers, 2 restaurants, post office, tourist office, ATM machine, 2 restaurants and a tea room all within easy walking distance in the village. At 15 minutes drive you'll find 2 thriving market towns. You enter via a covered terrace on the raised ground floor (6 exterior steps) into the open plan kitchen/living room. On this floor you also have a second shower room with toilet and washing machine. A back door leads up a few steps into the large back garden with covered dining area and beautiful views of the old village roofs and castle. On the first floor you'll find a big bedroom with a kingsize bed (180 x 200cm) that can be split up into two twin beds if you want. Please let us know beforehand if this has your preference. Also on this floor are a smaller bedroom with a queen size bed (160 x 200cm), and a modern shower room with toilet and big walk-in shower.

Super maison, propre, bien rangée et cosy. La cuisine est très bien équipée. L’espace salon-salle à manger est convivial et les chambres sont spacieuses. Le jardin avec sa belle vue vers le château a enchanté mes enfants. Manger dans le jardin à été un plaisir, malgré le temps un peu frais. La maison est bien chauffée. Babette est rapidement réactive et flexible sur les horaires. Nous avons reçu un sympathique accueil de la part Debbie. On trouve de tout à la superette du village, même des fromages et de la viande des fermes locales. C’est un endroit à recommander sans hésiter.
Nous avons passé un très agreable sejour dans cette maison de ville. Tout est conforme à la description. Le jardin est grand et très agréable.
Bij aankomst werden we opgewacht door Debbie. Warme verwelkoming, kleine rondleiding en uitleg gekregen over thermostaat en kookvuur. Er was een mapje aanwezig met uitleg over het dorpje, alsook aanwezige faciliteiten van het dorpje: bakker, slager, winkel, apotheek, ... Huisje was prima! 2 douches, 2 toiletten, 2 slaapkamers. Een tweepersoonsbed en eentje met 2 aparte bedjes, die ook als tweepersoonsbed opgemaakt kon worden. Dit werd op voorhand bevraagd door Babette. Alle courante benodigdheden waren in huis, dit staat niet allemaal vermeld op het overzichtje bij AirB&B. Wij hadden een fijn verblijf!

The house is situated a few steps from a magnificent fairy-tale castle that started as a stronghold in 1152.
The town of Jumilhac-le-Grand is in the national parc Périgord-Limousin, on the route du richard coeur de lion (Richard Lionheart). There is stunning scenery, walks and lakes all around.
You'll find a supermarket, bakery, hairdressers, 2 restaurants, post office, tourist office, ATM machine, 2 restaurants and a tea room all within easy walking distance in the village. At 15 minutes drive you'll find 2 thriving market towns, Thiviers and Saint-Yrieix-le-Perche.
In the house you will find a little gift from the local tourist office, with lots of local guides and flyers. The tourist office in the village also has lots of inormation about local walks and trails.
On hot days you can splash about in the river at the foot of the castle, go to one of the swimming lakes nearby, or use the public swimming pool in the village.
Perfectly located for day trips out into the Dordogne or Haute-Vienne regions, where you can visit towns such a Sarlat-la-Canéda, Rocamadour, Montignac-Lascaux, Domme and Limoges, and many more historic towns, rivers and castles.
A car is recommended to get to the village, but once you're there, you can get around by (electric) bike. From Thiviers and Saint-Yrieix-le-Perche you can also take trains to the bigger towns around us.

After living and working in many different countries we settled on the Cote d'Azur nearly 17 years ago, and succesfully hosted many guests there (see reviews). Now we've decided to explore other parts of France and fell in love with the beautiful Dordogne. We found this absolute gem of a house and now we want to share this with others. Because we used to work in the very high end of the hospitality industry, we know how to make guests feel welcome and comfortable, without being 'in their face'. You'll have a wonderful time staying at our place, I'm sure of it!
