Le Mirage is an award-winning 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom detached property nestled in the tranquil water gardens of Lower Mill Estate. Step into your holiday oasis tucked amongst the reeds in the heart of Lower Mill’s Water Garden. This RIBA award-winning property with ground source heating was designed by architect Andy Ramus and forms part of a small cluster of ten eco-friendly homes surrounding a beautiful water garden teaming with wildlife. Le Mirage showcases a beautiful and functional open-plan living space downstairs that opens onto a wrap-around terrace complete with lounges and a BBQ. Also on the ground floor, you will find a utility room, toilet, and twin bedroom. The first floor boasts additional bedrooms and bathrooms leading to an expansive rooftop terrace with views over the Water Garden and across toward Spinney Lake. All our properties at Lower Mill Estate, The Cotswolds and Silverlake, Dorset have strict rules to ensure a family friendly atmosphere. Our properties must strictly be used for holiday purposes only and not for working in and or using to commute to and from a place of work. Stag and Hen parties are strictly not allowed at any of our properties, and we reserve the right to cancel your booking if you break the estate rules. This property is dog friendly. GROUND FLOOR From the moment you enter Le Mirage, you will feel instantly welcomed. The owners have provided all the little touches to make this property feel like a true home away from home. Timber laminate floors feature downstairs for easy living. On this floor you will find a light-filled twin bedroom along with a well-equipped utility room with a washing machine, storage space, and adjoining toilet. The kitchen features an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and boiling hot water tap handy for a cosy hot cup of tea in front of the wood burner in the evening. A large dining table for ten connects the kitchen to the lounge and features a wall-mounted smart TV and a Sonos integrated Bluetooth sound system. The table and chairs seat 10, there are also 3 island bar stools. The open-plan living area is perfect for families, gathering after an adventurous day on the lakes, or exploring our 450-acre nature reserve. Here you will find a curated collection of books and board games to keep everyone entertained on a rainy day. Sliding patio doors open out onto a beautiful terrace situated amongst the reeds and Water Garden. The outdoor lounge and dining table with BBQ make this extended ground floor living space complete. FIRST FLOOR As you follow the stairs up to the first floor you will find four further bedrooms with ample storage space. A double bedroom equipped with wall-mounted TV, built-in wardrobes, a light-filled en-suite with a spacious shower and toilet, and patio doors leading to a balcony with views out towards Spinney Lake. Also on the first floor, there is a twin bedroom with a built-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Another room with built-in robes and bunk beds featuring a double on the bottom. A unique and fun feature for children and adults alike is the retro arcade machine in the bunk room. This floor also hosts a family bathroom with a shower, toilet, and bathtub. The final room is the master king-size bedroom with patio doors opening to a balcony overlooking the heart of the Water Garden. This room also features its own en-suite with a shower, toilet, and beautiful deep bath for soaking in at the end of an action-packed day. ROOF TERRACE A real highlight of this property is the electric glass roof door leading from the first floor up onto an expansive terrace and rooftop garden. A wonderful place to hang out with the family and catch the all-day sun, or enjoy Lower Mill’s stunning views. Featuring a large round dining table that seats 12, and a bar fridge. There is also a roof garden with sun lounges and sofas to enjoy the sunset. -------------------- PROPERTY SPECIFICS Pet Friendly - Please ensure you add a pet to your booking at the time of booking. One designated parking space – please use the overflow car park for additional cars. This may mean that the views represented in the photos above may vary depending on the season in which you stay with us. Normal check-in is from 4 pm. Out of peak season, early check-in of 2 pm may be available (at an additional fee). Please contact our office team to enquire. Check out during off-peak dates is by 10 am on the day of departure. During peak dates (school holidays) check out is at 9 am. £500 refundable damage deposit is due the week before your arrival. You will be contacted regarding this. Travel cot and highchair are available for £10, subject to availability. Please advise at the time of booking. Guests to provide their own linen and mattress for the travel cot. There is a strict 11 pm noise curfew on the estate. There are 3 electric vehicle charging points on the estate that operate on a first come first use basis. All our properties are non-smoking. -------------------- SEASONAL CLOSURES Somerford Lagoon Lake is closed from October – March due to nesting birds. The nearest canoe launch point is located near Mill Village as marked on the Estate Map. The Somerford Nines (Clearwater 1-9). The private outdoor pool closes after the October half term and does not re-open until Easter. The outdoor Mill Village pool closes after the October half term and does not re-open until Easter. The Miss Mouse Trail, run by the activity hub closes for the winter months. This is from 1st November to the Easter holidays.
Great for a family gathering. Plenty of rooms and bathrooms and they even provided a Christmas tree! The house is in beautiful surroundings.
My group was not so happy with this property. It is part of a group of 10 houses in quite a tightly spaced development. Not private at all with no lake view from common areas. Lock missing on bedroom door. Bathroom smell from drains. Outside doors and terrace areas were not clean. Still had cobwebs from winter. Outside pool was wonderful and spa good, but with quite limited opening hours and mobbed at the weekend.
Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful location. Plenty of room for 2 families to relax and not be under each other’s feet. We were there during a rainy week but it was lovely and cosy inside and we could watch swans, ducks and heron from the living room which is so light and bright. Hope to come back in sunny weather and make more use of the deck, balconies and roof terrace! Bathrooms spotless and kitchen / utility well equipped. The whole estate was great and we used the bar/ restaurant, indoor/outdoor pools and spa, playground and went for nature walks . Thanks for a lovely holiday!
