On a small holding, this barn conversion has 2 ensuite bedrooms and an enclosed, private outdoor space. Located above the beautiful woodlands of the Dimmingsdale Valley, on the edge of the Peak District, near Alton Towers. Brilliant if you're looking for countryside adventures, walking and outdoor fun or simply to enjoy a relaxing break. Close to the several market towns, with many independent retailers. From your doorstep, you can explore scenic walks; visit lakes, railways and canals. Our quirky back to front, upsidedown barn conversion offers open plan living: a modern kitchen, exposed beams leading to a living area, especially cosy when the log burner is lit. Our central staircase leads down to 2 ensuite bedrooms. Furnish throughout with a combination of wood and metal fixtures and fittings. The living space is accessorised with throws and cushions. We have a smart TV, free Wifi and thermostatically controlled underfloor heating throughout.
Ghe cottage was brilliant, the photos do not do it justice. it was better than we could have expected and in a perfect location to explore the area. The log burner topped everything off perfectly!
Jo was an exceptional host and really flexible when a family emergency delayed our travel plans. The cottage was pristine and the photos don’t do it justice. We loved the little treats left for us on arrival. We had a wonderful stay and it was ideal for Alton Towers. We would definitely stay again.
Fab converted barn. Exceeded expectations and perfectly located for our trip to Alton Towers.
Absolutely stunning barn, much better than we ever expected. Can I wait to return and explore the surroundings further. Exceptional host, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.
Had a really relaxing and lovely time at Owl Trees. The place was super clean and relaxing with some extra touches which we really liked, such as excellent water pressure in the showers, good amount of pans, really good cheese grater, wood provided for the amazing fire, extra blankets if needed, enough dishwasher tablets, super comfy beds, good pillows. We used the maps that were provided for a really lovely local walk as well as the food reviews (add in the pop-up thai restaurant at The Bridge at Alton). Would definitely recommend and we would like to return at some point as we have returned with a love for the area and ideas for what we'd like to try and experience next time.
Country lanes with the Moneystone hamlet near by. We only have two properties on our postcode. We have space and nature. Secret owl boxes, circling buzzards, woodpeckers and muntjac deer. Rolling farmland with a deciduous forest valley below. Oakamoor village is 1 mile down the hill, accessed by road or a woodland pathway. Whiston village, in the other direction, is 1.1 miles away. There's a golf course with a restaurant, here. We edge a disused quarry, hidden by forested areas.
You'll arrive at the property through a tunnel of trees. Many miles of walks are available from the doorstep. For a gentler walk, we have the churnet valley disused railway, leading to the fabulous Ramblers Retreat cafe and you can even paddle in the river Churnet. You can catch the steam train from Froghall, in the other direction. You'll see pictures in the living area of local beauty spots. See how many you can explore on your vist. Try The Roaches - the sountern end of the Pennine Way.
Our 11 acres makes up of 4 fields (no aniamls yet!) and two areas of forest,
a small poly tunnel and kitchen garden with barns and outbuildings.
We have scenic views of the Dimmingsdale Valley.
Car is the best form of transport. There is free parking nearby for most of the countryside carparks, others are paid.
