Located just minutes from the Mukilteo ferry and the charming sea town of Langley, our little organic hobby farm nestled beneath old evergreens offers convenient respite. Interact with sassy swan-like sebastopol geese (they love apples!) or a kaleidoscope of 50ish chickens, one rooster and two brother rescue goats named Frank and Petunia. Groomed trails lead to a 100 acre nature preserve managed by our neighbors The Whidbey Institute that we call the "100 Aker Wood". Situated on the south side of our little three acre organic hobby farm, the Briar Rose Cabin is our third and newest sister of our very popular Airbnb listings The Mother Goose Cabin: https://www.airbnb.com/h/storybookfarm-mother-goose-cabin & The Christopher Robin Writer’s Cabin: https://www.airbnb.com/h/storybookfarm-christopher-robin-writers-cabin. The Briar Rose Cottage is also a rustic building of reclaimed old-growth barn wood and architectural salvage, this newest cottage cabin boasts our largest single level blueprint, allowing a separate room for the queen-sized bed, a luxurious bathroom inside the cottage and easy just off the driveway access. This tiny home cabin is packed with charming details: a vintage stained glass window placed to capture the evening sun that dances colored light all around, antique tiger oak furnishings (and other vintage finds) dripping with lace and embroidery handcrafted by artisans of long, long ago and a chandelier, of course! ***Summer travelers rejoice! Whisper quiet air conditioning has been installed. Glamping at its finest :)
Absolutely loved our stay at the Briar Rose Cabin! Elisabeth went above and beyond even before we arrived and had freshly baked banana bread waiting for us upon arrival and was kind enough to let us check in early that particular evening. The cabin is so thoughtfully designed and we loved the personal touches in every room. The property itself felt like an oasis and was such a joy to walk around. Highly recommend staying at this location and I hope to be back very soon! Thank you so much Elisabeth & Jeff!
It was very peaceful stay. We went there to watch the auroras and they had make wonderful arrangements with their neighbors. We enjoyed spending time with the family while watching sky dance. It was very dreamy. This wouldn’t have been possible without Jeff and his family’s hospitality.
What a relaxing and wonderful stay! The cottage is so beautifully decorated and very clean. We had a cozy fire in the backyard and loved seeing all the chickens. It was so nice to explore trails in the backyard and we even heard an owl! We would definitely stay again for a relaxing and nature filled trip.
Elisabeth and Jeff’s property is… BREATHTAKINGLY beautiful, cozy, ethereal, magical… everything you could dream of. What a treat it was to stay at this absolutely magical place! To the very minuscule of details nothing was spared - couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay (apart from the having to go home part of course). Staying in this beautiful cottage/cabin will have you feeling like you are in a romantic fairytale village in England. All the modern amenities you’d need encapsulated in a rustic and so tastefully created and decorated cabin. It’s quite an amazing experience - the animals and the hosts family just make it that much more enjoyable. If you would like to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy some tranquility and old world charm on Whidbey Island you will experience that and more visiting this beautiful home. ♥️
Jeff and I have enjoyed being the caretakers of this forested place since 2012.
This has been an idyllic location to raise chickens, geese, goats and children. We are now working on the next phase of our dream: a community of tiny cabins and other unique spaces to offer folks wanting to reconnect with nature.
***Three cabins are now available on Airbnb perfect for extended families or friends wanting to share a unique retreat space that still affords privacy.
Though we are only minutes from the conveniences of the city, our home is surrounded by giant trees, whispering wind, woodland creatures and feels much like something from yesteryear.
Squirrels and bunnies can usually be spotted scurrying around the rhodondendrums and ferns.
Hummingbirds, red-breasted robins, blue-feathered jays, regal hawks and eagles are frequent visitors.
In the forest, expect to see white-tailed deer, hear red feathered woodpeckers drilling into treetrunks and mama chipmunks barking from tree branches.
In the quiet of the night, the calls of hootie owls and distant coyotes and raccoons rustling leaves are often heard.
Springtime brings the riotous song of tiny frogs called spring peepers and is a favorite lullaby.
On clear nights, our view of the sky offers a breathtaking display of twinkly stars. Look for the Big Dipper.
Here, one can easily lose themselves in the beauty and simplicity of nature.
Car, of course, is the most convenient. Some have biked from the Clinton-Mukilteo ferry. (Caution: it is a very steep ascent.)
Paine field is our closest and newest airport... just 4 miles on the other side of the Clinton-Mukilteo ferry.
The Whidbey-Seatac shuttle has a service with many convenient stops on our beautiful Whidbey Island. (The Ken's Korner stop is closest to our farm --about 2 miles away.) Sometimes Jeff or I can pick you up there, feel free to ask!
Whidbey Island also has a free bus service called Island Transit. Check out their website for schedules.

Our home, like its hosts, is peppered with rustic vintage charm. Old linen, abundant lace and tiger oak furnishings lovingly readied for the addition of more sweet memories one knick, chip and scuff at a time. Children's laughter, roosters crowing and the honking of sebastopol geese punctuate the music of wind whistling through the ancient trees.
