Our property, home to The Birdhouse in Hancock, All Sorts (Cafe + Retail) and Troutbrook Studios, was purchased in 2006 to house a a bevy of thirty something dreams (we are now in our 40's :-) Today it holds forty something dreams, great food, and a curated atmosphere. The Birdhouse *so named by locals in reverence of the feathered friends who resided onsite* has three suites - Nest, Koo Koo, and Owl (permanently rented). Koo Koo is a large one bedroom with a queen and one twin plus four twin beds in the common space. Nest offers two bedrooms--one small one with a full bed and one larger one with a queen, plus twin bed that acts as a daybed by day but can be used for an additional guest. Have a coffee and a croissant at All Sorts - amazing. Admire the custom beautiful wood and metal work by our friends at Trout Brook Studios. Visit Parkalbaum's Emporium - Handmade and Vintage Coop with over ten members. Venture out to The Smokehouse nearby - yummy (reviewed by Anthony Bourdain). The scenic Delaware River is less than a 5 minute walk (Hancock is the head waters of the Delaware River). RESERVE TUBES IN THE SUMMER FOR $15! Please note we are located in a small river village. There is a bus that goes to Hancock, NY. Please note, the bus to Hancock (Coach Shortline) only runs twice a day, from both Monticello and Binghamton. Via car: 2 1/2 hours form NYC via major highways. Great stopover on the NYC to Toronto drive!
We had a great stay at the Birdhouse Hannah was a wonderful host! She also runs the eclectic cafe and gift shop below the apartment. The place was immaculate with plenty of room for the four of us. Nice bathroom with a great shower, Kitchen with all you would need, Lots of free parking nearby It is in the center of the town of Hancock so there were several food options, convenience and drug stores nearby, as well as nice antique shops if you wanted to shop. Would I stay there again?....We have already requested to book the same time next year!!!
We enjoyed our stay here in rustic Hancock. The unit sits above a coffee shop and the host was very responsive and helpful.
Enjoyed our weekend stay in Hancock as we were in town for a wedding. Place is as described and Jackie was very accommodating and helpful throughout the weekend.
Need a place for a wedding. Jackie's Nest was a far better value than a hotel in the area.
Hancock is a very walkable town, and has all the basics: a supermarket, a dollar store, a liquor store, a Walgreens, a post office, a hotel restaurant, and a coffee shop (All Sorts, right below). We also have two amazing antique shops--Parkalbaum's Emporium and The Treasure Chest. For a nighttime hang, the restaurant Unclebrother is a two minute walk away, serving great food and cocktails. If you want to venture to local breweries, scenic hikes, swimming, book stores, natural wine bars, etc, you'll want to check out other towns in the area like Calicoon, Livingston Manor, Roscoe, and Narrowsburg.
