Excede my expectations. Great location jus a couple of miles from where I needed to be for a weeks work. Simon was open to a couple of suggestions to make the place even better. Will definately be booking again if working in the area.
Simon and Tess are a delightful couple who really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Their place is set in a lovely, peaceful location and inside is comfortable, bright, and clean. The shower is super efficient and the bed was really comfortable. There are a lot places to visit in the area. Simon suggested that we visited the bluebell trail - we weren't disappointed. It was absolutely stunning. We also had a lovely walk around Arlington Reservoir. This is definitely a great place for a single person or couples to relax and unwind. Thank you, Simon and Tess.
I enjoyed my stay at Simon’s place very much, it was very spacious, well equipped and beautifully presented. This is one of the very best Airbnb’s I’ve stayed at. I will definitely look to stay here again, if and when I visit this area in the future.
I had a great stay at Simon’s place - extremely comfortable and cosy. Very sadly I did not have time to do any of the lovely looking walks around the property. The only slight problem was difficulty finding the entrance as I arrived after dark and it was not well lit (being a country lane) but Simon was very helpful when I contacted him and came down to the road with a light. I would definitely stay there again.
Had a great stay at Simons and we thoroughly enjoyed the farm setting and the freedom to explore the farmland and woodland, we did manage to see some of the wildlife. I would recommend this location if you like the peace and quiet and enjoy exploring, we had a wonderful trip to Eastbourne and to Rye, overall most enjoyable, we will use again for sure.
Set in the East Sussex countryside there are lots of walks you can do across our fields and neighbouring footpaths. The local country town is Hailsham, around 10 minutes away, with many supermarkets, a Neptune store, a charming old fashioned cinema and lots of little cafes.
Abbots Wood is a local woodland around 10m away, close to historical site Michelham Priory, and it's a 15 min. drive to stunning walks on the South Downs.
It's 25 min to the beach in Eastbourne or Seaford to get fish and chips and have a paddleboard!
Charming historical town Lewes is a 20 min drive away, visit it's medieval castle and explore trendy cafes and shops. Alfriston, around a 15 min. drive, is a pretty historical village on the river Cuckmere, near the South downs with lovely walks and restaurants and even a vineyard (Rathfinny).
If you're coming by train the local station is Berwick but there are often more trains to Polegate (and a taxi rank).
Driving is the best option. Parking in Hailsham is free and never difficult. In Eastbourne Centre, Lewes and Bexhill all have parking meters. Seaford currently have no meters.
If you have no car there is a bus stop 5mins. away on the A22. The buses are pretty infrequent but you can get to most local places.
