It’s hard to actually describe how peaceful one feels after a glorious month at Thibaults place. I was always sad to leave in the morning to go to work in Desert Hot Springs, and so grateful to race home to chill once again. Morongo Valley is a small quaint town with a couple super fun spots. We made our own cactus garden at Cactus Mart. We also frequented Spaghetti Western which was right down the street and had good food and fun live entertainment. Dog walking every morning and evening was easy and we seemed to find new things to look at every time…the spacious home was clean and comfortable. The outdoor seating was plentiful and offered the most spectacular views. If you need a respite from today’s world, I recommend booking now!
La Rodinara is a really magical place. Thibault is responsive to the small hiccups and questions that come up while hosting. For example, Thibault was responsive to our concerns regarding the slower internet initially, bringing in and installing Starlink, which resolved all of our connectivity concerns. The property is a magical spot for those eager to live in a slightly more rural part of the desert. We especially loved taking the short drive to yucca valley on weekends to hike and dine at the copper room! Thanks Thibault for the stay.
It’s hard to put into words the magic that Thibault has captured at La Rodinara. My partner, 2 y/o, dog, and I spent a month at this house, working remotely, taking in the extraordinary views, lazing in the sun, hiking, drinking tea around the fireplace, birdwatching, stargazing, sitting in the swing, and living the slow life. Thibault’s place was extremely comfortable, professionally designed, and tough for us to leave behind. Even better, Thibault was an excellent communicator and quickly helped us out any time we needed anything. Plus, it’s a quick 15 minute drive into town for any necessities or about 25 mins to Palm Springs. If you’re wondering if this listing is for you, do yourself a favor: stop reading and book it. You won’t regret it.
La Rodinara sits at about 2,500 feet above sea level on 5 acres of desert mesquite, piñon, palo verde, olive, acacia, sumac, pepper, yucca, and juniper studded desert at the foot of the Sand to Snow National monument - at the eastern foot of San Gorgonio Mountain (the highest peak in Southern California).
Morongo Valley has historically been known for its water, for the underground streams that flow from San Gorgonio mountain to the Big Morongo Canyon below. The trees and lush desert vegetation are a part of this natural habitat and home to many quail, rabbit, hummingbirds, butterflies, lizards, and road runners. The 263 species of birds and 74 species of butterflies that migrate through the Canyon preserve often make a stop in our trees! Be prepared for some wonderful birdwatching!
A popular destination in Morongo Valley is the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, where one can take hikes, go bird-watching or stroll along the walkways.
