Amazing location and house but terrible experience with 3rd party host. After booking confirm atiok I was asked for a "BBQ cleaning fee" but cottages com did not respond to numerous requests on our to pay this until it was too late. Then the BBQ (one of the main reason of choosing the property) was dirty and had no gas so could not be used. When I called.the local office I was told there was no gas because I did not pay the "BBQ cleaning fee" and it would take 3 days to arrange. Had to buy my own gas and clean the previous guests food off the BBQ! Will be cautious of 3rd party hosts in the future.

The house is in a beautiful location and is a super size for a family. It’s well equipped and has a lovely view of the lake. We were let down with no BBQ and the hosts were not able to replace a gas canister for the first 8 days of our 10 day stay. It was a waste of a beautiful patio in summer - having to cook inside.

Stunning view, fantastic location, easy walk to lakeside and Storrs Hall Hotel, lots of space, easy parking. House was obviously a beloved family home and in time will be the luxury destination it was in the past. Back bedroom and master smell damp - light with windows open. BBQ is advertised but 5 empty gas canisters. Only one door key, instructions to find are limited, road is both ways, house is up the hill. Master bedroom has a large balcony door but no key to open it and as a result the rom is very hot on sunny afternoon. Kitchen is dated and has enormous amount of cookware, plates, glasses etc, the less used are dirty. House was turned around and clean in all bedrooms, linen, towels clean and fresh. We had a fantastic week and really enjoyed the house, some of the bathrooms have been updated and we didn't have an issue with the dated appearance. It was a fantastic location and worked really well with two families.

We had the best family holiday at Homewood house. Truly stunning views from the balcony and so spacious and cosy inside too.
