The Edwardian Schoolroom at the Old Chapel is a self-contained guesthouse for 2 adults located in the quiet village of Burbage, Wiltshire. The premises lie near the centre of the village making it easy to locate. There is plenty of off-road parking and to ensure your privacy during your stay, you have exclusive access to the gardens. The village has many amenities but most importantly, it is a very short walk to the village pub. The self-contained Schoolroom offers an ideal relaxing location to get away from it all. The let actually consists of a hallway (for coats, shoes and bicycles), bedroom (in a room previously known as the Classroom), kitchenette, laundry room and shower room as well as the rather large Schoolroom itself. You will not be wanting for space! Within the Schoolroom itself there are 4 areas, dining area, office area, the bar billiards table and the lounge area. After a good night’s sleep in the comfy king-size bed, you can either set off to explore this beautiful area or stay "at home" to enjoy the peace and quiet in the gardens. You'll inevitably hear the clomping of horses hooves and the screech of red kites as they fly low above the building but this simply exemplifies our countryside setting. If you venture back indoors the Schoolroom offers many activities to while away the hours such as watching either TV (with Freeview, Fire TV, Amazon Prime) or a DVD, cuddling up with a good book on the snuggle chair, playing chess, making that incredibly difficult Wentworth jigsaw or showing off your snooker skills on the bar billiards table. There are other games available to play but for the more studious, a full size office desk and chair awaits. Outside there are 3 seating areas ensuring on a sunny day at least 1 is always in sunshine and 1 is always in the shade! The kitchenette does not have a conventional oven and hob but is still well equipped. The Ninja oven has 10 functions (Grill, Air Fry, Whole Roast, Roast, Bake, Pizza, Bread Toast, Bagel Toast, Reheat and Dehydrate) so should meet most of your needs. The Panasonic Microwave/Grill provides additional cooking facilities and even has an omelette maker! The single induction hob comes with a full set of pans and all the equipment comes with full instructions. To supplement these main items we also provide a Crock Pot slow cooker, a multi-layer food steamer and a good old fashioned toasted sandwich maker. You will also find in the kitchen a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, Dolce Gusto coffee machine, cafetiere (with ground coffee) and a tea pot. In case you've been exploring the countryside and got wet and muddy, there is a washer/drier complete with Method laundry detergent and fabric softener. If you are staying to attend a posh event and discover your clothes have become crumpled during your travels there is an iron and ironing board. However if the items are quite delicate let us know and we can supply a clothes steamer. Burbage is in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so there is much to interest the outdoor enthusiast. The House Manual has a large section on things to visit or do in the immediate area (i.e. within 25 driving miles) and if you'd like some help planning your stay let us know and we'll send you a pdf copy - you'd be amazed at what is to do and visit around here! We are a perfect location if you are attending one of the Marlborough College Summer Schools. And if you are racing at Thruxton Race Circuit (only 18 miles away) we can safely accommodate your car and trailer. For cyclists, National Cycle Network Route 4, between London and Fishguard, passes the bottom of our garden so you could stop off for a couple of nights to dry out and rest, or explore the excellent local cycle routes. A welcome pack will await you and you'll also find semi-skimmed milk, butter and bottled water in the fridge and bread, preserves, cereals, tea, coffee (instant , ground and Dolce Gusto pods), herbal infusions and biscuits in the various cupboards. And a nice bottle of chilled prosecco!
