The Driftless Hygge Cottage is in the heart of the Driftless, making many of the region's just a short drive away. Wildcat Mountain State Park, less than a mile away, is a popular spot for hikers, star-gazers, and miles of horseback riding trails. The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is a 20-minute drive and offers more miles of hiking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding trails, and unique events throughout the year.
We are surrounded by numerous classified trout streams, perfect for fly-fishing Brook and Brown Trout. There are hundreds of acres of public hunting, to include both Wildcat Mountain State Park and the Kickapoo Valley Reserve (check their websites for availability), among other public hunting grounds within a few minutes.
Ontario has our favorite place to get steaks at the Wildcat Bar and Grill. Watch a Packer Game and have a delicious pizza at the Rivers End Bar. Hillsboro Brewing Company is a 15-minute drive for some of the best beer around! Or grab a bottle of spirits from St. Mary's Distillery in Cashton, also about 15-minutes away, to enjoy in the warmth of the cottage. Make it a day trip to Viroqua, about 35-minutes, to see more of the Driftless, explore the city's unique shops on Main Street, and eat at the Driftless Cafe with James Beard nominated chefs. Rockton Bar, about 10-minutes, is famous for their Sunday charcoal chicken during the Summer and a very popular stop for bikers. Make sure to call and reserve your bird before you go! Our absolute favorite coffee shop is in Hillsboro— Let’s Shine- just make sure to check prior to going as their hours are limited (typically open Weds-Saturday).

Right off from Highway 33, the cottage is easy to spot. The mailbox is a teal color with 409 on the side.
There is a shared driveway with the Faith Independent Church. You are welcome to use it at your convenience, but please don't park on it. Please park anywhere behind the cottage or the driveway next to the mailbox.
We are approximately 30 minutes from Tomah, 30 minutes from Fort McCoy, 35 minutes from Volk Field, 45 minutes from La Crosse, 1 hour from Wisconsin Dells, and 2 hours from Madison.
