We are in the heart of the unspoilt Eden Valley, and on the edge of a tranquil part of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Shap boasts many amenities for the visitor and is only two minutes from the M6. There are many idyllic villages and hamlets to explore in the surrounding area with the market towns of Appleby, Penrith and Kendal only a short drive away. If you love walking or cycling, there are many amazing routes starting from our front door. Your stay will be in a lovingly rebuilt cow-byre dating from the 1800s, using local, reclaimed and sustainable materials wherever possible. Free off-street parking is next to the property. There is free WIFI available and good mobile signal in the village. Your breakfast will be self-serve continental. Drinks making facilities are also freely available in your room. Please let us know of any dietary requirements.

What lovely hosts Jane & Dave are. I felt so at home once putting my bags down and the room was just perfect! I don’t tend to sleep well in unfamiliar places; but I had a great nights sleep. I stayed due to hiking Striding edge, Helvellyn from Glenridding (35-40 mins drive) - lovely scenic route. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again :-)

Shap is a very friendly village with plenty of amenities. Three pubs, a cafe, and an award-winning chippy offer a variety of food choices. A community library with exhibition space and a village hall host regular events. If you enjoy sport there is a bowling green, outdoor gym, tennis courts and all weather pitch. We also have the highest outdoor swimming pool in England! On the last Saturday of the month Shap hosts a busy farmer's market, only a couple of minutes walk from your accommodation. The village is situated in beautiful walking and cycling country with many routes starting from its centre. The Lake District with it's stunning scenery and picturesque villages are easily accessible from this base. The Coast to Coast and LEJoG routes also pass through the village.
There is plenty of parking in Shap, with nearby charging points for electric cars. All amenities are within walking distance. Shap is also on a bus route to Kendal and Penrith and 2 miles from the M6.
