Reserved this beautiful lake home many months ago for our April 6 - April 9 total-eclipse getaway; far enough from the crowds and yet a very easy drive to and from Du Quoin for totality! We wanted someplace that we hadn't been before, situated in a beautiful location so that if the weather hadn't cooperated, we would have still had a wonderful time. Well, the weather was perfect (even the rainy Sunday where we went to Ballard Nature Center, since we had our baby-grandson with, and Tuscan Hills Winery). The lake house is spectacular! We instantly felt comfortable and at home. Love the peace and quiet! We had great sleeps and enjoyed preparing our meals there and hanging out together in the evenings. The yard and lake are gorgeous. Didn't have a chance to use the kayaks or firepit (maybe next time!). Super nice neighbors, wonderful bird watching in the mornings and evenings. The thoughtful host even left a basket of snacks for us. This is an outstanding place to stay!

My husband and I stayed here with our two boys (ages 9 & 12) for two nights. The cabin was easy to get to and was close to town for anything we needed. The cabin was super clean and stocked very well! We had so much fun using the canoe and kayaks! We also fished off the dock and caught some catfish and bass. The lake was gorgeous! My boys didn’t want to leave :) The neighbor cats were hysterical to watch play. We even had five deer in the yard last night! We would definitely stay here again!
