The Stables is very comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean and warm as toast. But the best thing about it is the fantastic position, set way back from the road, and with the forest and the river on the doorstep. It’s peaceful, private and a perfect base for exploring the Cairngorms. We loved our time there and will go back – there’s so much still to see, and many hills still to climb.

We stayed for 3 nights in April 2024 and can’t wait to go back! Alice is a pleasure to deal with, always responsive and very helpful :) The house is beautiful, exceptionally clean and tidy throughout, specced to a high level. It’s situated in lovely woodlands just on the edge of Aboyne with great forestry walks right on the doorstep and only about 50m from the river! I’d thoroughly recommend this property to anyone!

We had a fantastic few days mountain biking even in the wet! The house was absolutely perfect, even had the radio on when we walked in and was lovely and warm. Alice and Ali were perfect hosts and couldn’t have been more helpful. I couldn’t recommend the house enough it’s beautifully furnished and decorated with great attention to detail. We will definitely be back hopefully when the weather is dryer!

An amazing little home from home with easy access to the beautiful cairngorms! The cottage was spotlessly clean, had everything we could have asked for and extremely comfy beds! We loved coming in from a snowy or wet walk to cosy up in front of the fire with the dog. Great communication throughout with so many handy tips and recommendations! Thank you so much for a lovely stay - well hopefully back again soon!

Fabulous stay. The external lights were thoughtfully left on, which was great on a dark winters evening. Clear instructions to a lock box and straight in. The heating and lights were on - great on a winter’s evening. Property was extremely clean. There is a log fire. Logs had been taken in and kindling was in the fire, ready to be lit. The cottage is extremely well equipped. Lots of pots, pans, utensils and glasses. Kitchen is very nice. Didn’t use the patio doors and seating area as I visited in Nov but I would imagine they would be lovely in summer. The living area faces south so even in November, during daylight, the living area was light. Two great bathrooms - one with a bath. Bedrooms have lovely wooden beds. Nicely carpeted and a lovely (proper) wooden floor. It is extremely quiet and peaceful location but a good sized coop 5 mins drive. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is a huge range of walks & activities. Fabulous wee cottage. I had a fantastic break.
