Very comfortable and large cottage. Great location, easy to drive into Hay on Wye. I think this would be a great place for families as they have lots of animals on the farm. Overall a great stay.
A lovely couple of days in beautiful surroundings. Marta and Patrick looked after us and the kids loved feeding the animals
a stunning rural location but only a short drive into Hay, allowed us to pop in and out of the Hay festival and to come back and relax in a gorgeous setting. The cottage was lovely and very spacious. Pizza’s on the friday night went down a treat, as did pudding!! will certainly be back
Perfeft countryside get away. Hosts were absolutely fantasic, warm, welcoming and happy to help with anything. Property was beautiful, well renovated and everything worked as it should. Highly recommended for the price.
amazing place amazing people! we did not expect such a phenomenal place. Beautiful house with a huge living room, very comfortable beds, clean and fully equipped kitchen. We were shown around the farm and the children were delighted with the animals. We are already looking forward to going back there again but definitely for longer than just 3 nights.
Venturing away from the farm.......
Hay-on-wye is 3 miles away & is reknowned for its book festival held once a year end May. This is when the town heaves!! 150, 000 descend on the tiny little market town bringing an eclectic mix of people to our rural midst. The festival has meant that the town has been able to sustain itself & is today one of the most thriving villages on the Wales/Herefofrdshire Border with thriving shops, restaurants & bars that will rival London for its foodiness.
Top 10 things to do when you are here.. if you can tear yourself away from your Farm holiday with us ...
1. Taste the local sheeps milk ice-cream from Shepherds in the heart of town.
2. Walk up Hay Bluff and enjoy the magical views.
3. Wander the book-stores (favourite is Booths!) & antique shops in Hay (there are over 30 bookstores!) The Old Electric shop, owned by a friend, is a must for its vintage treasures & wonderful cafe.
4. Vist the farmers market on a Thursday in the town centre. Lovely local produce. Try Alex Gooch's sourdough bread.
5. Taste the local cider and cheese (My favourite is Dunkertons Cider and Neals Yard Creamery (owned by Parents from our kids school & love how they named one after their son Finn!) both available from the Deli - you can visit Dunkertons for a tour & buy a case of cider to take back!)
6. Eat at the wonderful eateries that surround you - our favourites (Booths Cafe in a bookstore, The Old Electric Shop, The Rivercafe in Glasbury, The Three Tunns (oldest Pub in Hay) & owned by friends, The Granary owned by our neighbour, The Griffin in Felin Fach, The Bridge Inn in Micheal Church, The Pandy in Dorstone, Hollybush (does not look good outside but great thai & nepalese food) for something a bit more special try The Stagg Inn in Titley (Michelin Star), their cheese board is something special.
7. Wander down the River Wye in a canoe (wye valley canoes) or blackmountain activity centre take younger kids canoeing too.
8. Try your hand at climbing Black Mountain Activities or a bit further but larger and scarier!! Llangorse Activity Centre
