'Library Barn' is a beautiful building that has been thoughtfully-designed & beautifully-furnished. It is located at 42 Acres - a regenerative farm, nature reserve & wellbeing retreat centre. We are situated in rural Somerset between Frome & Bruton and we run on 100% renewable energy. Explore our 173 acres of wild spaces including ancient woodland; rewilded meadows; edible hedges; a lake suitable for wild swimming & an abundance of wildlife. It's the perfect place to reconnect with nature. Library Barn has beautiful bones - having been sympathetically designed with wonderful features and eclectic details to surprise and delight. The upstairs bedroom features a glass balustrade over the living space and a Juliette balcony to the outside. It has it's own shower room on the ground floor. The downstairs bedroom is accessible. It is possible to drive almost up to the door. (Please get in touch, if you'd like to discuss accessibility needs). It has an ensuite bath/shower room and opens both to the living space and to the outdoors. The main living space is sociably open-plan. It features a fully-equipped kitchen, large dining table, and a lounge with 3 super-soft sofas, a real fire* and a large projector screen. Please feel free to lounge on one of the comfy sofas with a roaring fire to one side of you, and your favourite movie playing on the big screen to the other side! Please ask for our pet policy in advance so that we can accommodate. *We will supply wood that is sustainably-sourced by coppicing on our land.

The most incredible location with fantastic, long walks on the doorstep on which you rarely see anyone else and are just immersed in nature. The barn itself is well designed with comfortable sofas from which to watch TV and relax. Good power on the shower, well heated and lots of hot water! A great stay and we shall definitely be back.
43 acres is beautifully presented, the kitchen was well equipped, the giant projector was great and everything was clean and tidy with plenty of space for 4. The surroundings were beautiful, we had some lovely walks and saw the amazing things the site had to offer. We loved the stay and would definitely come back.
Charming place, very relaxing, beautiful space
The barn is in a pretty nature area run by friendly staff, but it lacked some basics. We enjoyed our stay, but probably wouldn’t return. Firstly, we hadn’t appreciated how close it was to the other accommodation, with a large retreat event going on metres from us. You could hear cars coming and going etc, making it less peaceful than expected. Secondly, one of the two showers wasn’t working throughout our stay. We were told a new shower head would be fitted at some point, but it wasn’t. Thirdly, the property couldn’t be secured, with no ability to lock up. Although when asked the staff explained that the location was safe therefore no locks needed, with a newborn baby and work valuables with us this wasn’t ideal. Finally, 42 Acres could improve their offering by giving free access to the sauna. We were quoted £120 for 2 hrs’ exclusive use, which felt pricey on top of the barn cost. Staff did work something non-exclusive out for us at lower cost, but it was a bother for them and us.
Beautiful barn. Really loved the decoration, the open spaces, the fire place and the overall feel.

As well as your private space, you are welcome to explore our regenerative land including our organically-farmed market garden, edimental walled garden, micro woodland mushroom farm, 7-acre lake (you're welcome to take out our row boat and/or SUP boards), edible hedges, 'secret' treehouse built around a veteran oak...
We are located in rural Somerset in between the beautiful, historic towns of Frome and Bruton - and about 20 mins drive from each. Both Frome and Bruton are charming, vibrant towns with a wealth of culture and thriving independent scene.
However, we steward our land in ways that support connection with nature and most of our visitors remain on site.
There is ample space and plenty of free parking on site. You are welcome to explore our outside space. Please do not go inside the other buildings.

Our beautiful, eco-friendly accommodation ranges from simple cottages to luxurious barn conversations. Each is powered by renewable energy and offers a cosy sanctuary, nestled in nature. Our 173 acres of land is home to millions of lives. We nurture the land not only for ourselves but for the other living beings we share it with. Over the past few years, we have seen the return of a number of once-thought extinct species, including beavers, wild boar and pine martens. We aim to go beyond being sustainable into what we call regenerative. Put simply, we aim to leave the earth in better shape than when we found it. Since 2014 we have planted over 5,000 native trees and over 1km of edible hedges - creating new sources of fuel, food and habitat. 100% of our heat and electricity is from renewable energy and we have 2 solar farms and 2 biomass wood-chip heat systems onsite. This is a place to relax, restore and reconnect.
