Heather and Hank are wonderful. They were kind and helpful and they get 5 stars. The cottage, however, was a bit below our expectations. When we booked there were no pictures and we were told they were “too new” to even have pictures yet. This led us to believe the cottages were brand new which convinced us to book our stay even though we are not farm stay people. If you are a camper you will do fine in the cottages. We are not campers so it was a bit too rustic for us. The cottages are quite old and run down. We wondered if they had been moved from somewhere else into this dirt field. There was no bbq or fire pit as advertised. The yard was all dirt and you loaded up a wagon and pulled your bags across the dirt lot to your door. If it rains you will be quite muddy. The cottage had a key but the door didn’t lock. We booked hummingbird cottage that was advertised as two bedrooms with queen beds. There was a king bed only and the second room was supposed to be the living room I think. There was a futon type couch. The light didn’t work so we didn’t use the room as it’s pitch black at night. The shower was primitive but had hot water and we were thankful for that. We did take advantage of the fresh eggs and bacon left in our fridge. As soon as we turned the stove on, before beginning to cook, both fire alarms went off. It was an issue getting them to stop. I suggest shutting all doors to other rooms before turning the burner on. There were a few kitchen wares but do not expect to be able to cook a full family dinner. We were there two nights and we each had one towel. That’s not typically an issue but because it was so cold and damp in the cabin the towels never dried so we used wet towels on day two. There is also no amenities at all. Take your own shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hair dryer if you need one. We also had roughly 1/2 small roll of toilet tissue with no extra to be found. The bed was a hard spring mattress. When you sat down you could feel the springs. The graphic rendering of the cottages is probably what they aspire to be. When they get grass and trees planted the area will be nice. The view from the farm is beautiful. It wouldn’t take much to overhaul the cottages into something great. Currently, however, they are a step up from camping outside. They have indoor plumbing and hot water so if you are into camping outside you will probably experience the cottages differently than us. I will also add that the ceilings are pretty low. At 5’4” I could stretch out my arm and touch the ceiling. Our 6’1” son would have had his head touch the ceiling had he been with us so if you are tall and claustrophobic you might not do well. Our other one main issue is it felt like the cottages were misrepresented and the cost seemed grossly overpriced for what you get. For two nights it cost us almost $800 and the current state of the accommodations just didn’t seem to support that. We arrived on pizza night and Heather was very kind and allowed us to borrow her personal chairs to eat and enjoy the live music. If you go on pizza night take cash if you plan to eat as it’s not included. I never like to leave a bad review and don’t mean this to be negative. In this case I just want to be honest so that others will be prepared. The cottage gets 2 stars at best. Hank and Heather get 5 stars. I think they are working to improve the experience so maybe just ask questions before you book so you will know what to expect. We would not stay here again. But if we were local we would definitely go back on pizza night to enjoy the farm and Heather and Hank.
