We were a group of 5 couples wandering around the Wisconsin countryside; very glad we found this spot! The restaurant next door was a welcoming place to grab dinner; everyone was very friendly!

So many things to say! We spent the night on our way through the Elroy-Sparta trail. Our group got a warm welcome, met goats and a horse, had a LOVELY prime rib dinner at the restaurant, complete with live music afterwards in the barn out back. They also have a lovely store where they sell a variety of amenities by local crafters. On top of all of this our host met us with fresh veggies from the farm and honey from their beekeeping (having some with my tea as I type this). In the morning there was a new duo in the kitchen who prepared a fantastic spread of eggs, hash, pancakes, and a variety of other breakfast foods which powered us up to get to the nearest tunnel (a mere 2 miles away!). Also got to wander through the cornfields and have some awesome chats with the owner about local economics/culture (50% of the local population is Amish). Such a fantastic and memorable experience at a stunningly low price. Thanks again!

We are very grateful for Rick. Who got in early and set up air conditioners and fans. It was in the upper 90s the 1st day and to have a nice, cool place was very welcome. soon afterwards Rick showed up with a lovely little gift basket. And gave us a tour of the farm where we met some of the animals. Amish country was a lovely experience. We enjoy a hearty fish fry Friday at the School house Restaurant, a short walk from the bnb, and a great supper there Saturday as well. We're considering coming again.

Our family had a wonderful time at the Dorset Valley Trailside Inn. Debra and Rick were such gracious hosts! Debra was responsive to our group's multiple messages before our trip and they welcomed us with an amazing basket of homemade bread, jelly, cheese and later, a bounty of fresh garden vegetables. The home was warm when we arrived and Rick worked quickly to provide extra fans. (One thing to note: the main A/C unit is located upstairs in the hallway and doesn't reach all rooms well, particularly if you close doors. You may need to rely on windows at night & fans to push air into warmer areas of the home). Our family of 11 loved this huge home! We enjoyed our time cooking in the large, well-stocked kitchen, visiting in the living room, playing games in the kitchen and using the outdoor fire pit (with free wood!), grill and feeding the goats and cows. We also LOVED our meal at the restaurant. Enjoy your stay in this beautiful area, full of activities of friendly folks.

We had a great time in the house. It’s clean and lovely, most importantly, each room has its own bathroom. The food and service of restaurant next to the house is wonderful. The host is very friendly and helpful. We are glad that we chose to stay at the trail-side inn.
