We absolutely loved our stay here at Rachel's house. We came to hike Katahdin so it is the perfect location. On our first night, before our hike, we enjoyed hanging out by the fire, looking at the stars and Milky Way, and just generally chilling out. We cooked dinner there and found everything we needed to make a delicious, fortifying meal. It was great to come back to this house after our hike. We ate at a nearby restaurant that's between the park and the house- perfect because we knew that if we went home first, we'd never get off the couch again! The beds were so comfortable and warm. We lingered a bit on our last day, drinking coffee, playing cribbage and doing a puzzle (almost). There are many puzzles there to choose from. Saw two loons on the lake and heard Bard owls at night. What a delightful, comfortable, and clean place. We'll be back!

Rachel's house is in a perfect location between Baxter State Park and Millinocket. Only a short drive into the town to eat at a restaurant or go to the grocery store. It took us a little over an hour to get from the Bangor, Airport to the house. We came to Maine to summit Katahdin with our daughter, who was finishing up her Appalachian Trail Thru-hike from Georgia to Maine! The day after the hike, we enjoyed sitting by the lake all day and relaxing, while enjoying the beautiful view, and drying out her hiking gear on the lawn. Loved the fire pit! We made s'mores at night and sat outside. Weather was awesome! Views from inside the house were also amazing from all the windows that look out to the lake, and the couches were comfortable, with lots of extra blankets. The house had everything we needed and was very clean, and the washer and dryer was a plus for washing up the smelly hiker clothes! Rachel was awesome with her communication, and we would definitely recommend!!

We were extremely lucky to find such an amazing place with such incredible hosts! The house was very spacious and cozy, on a beautiful pond, perfect for dipping your feet in and enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and a fire pit with plenty of wood to enjoy our evenings. Our hosts thought of every little detail and then some! There were plenty of extra towels and blankets, a very well stocked pantry, and even frosty beer mugs in the freezer. Our hosts were extremely responsive - we asked to use the paddle board and they dropped of a canoe for us, which was a very fun way to explore the pond. They also went out of their way to let us know that we could check in earlier and leave later, since they had nobody immediately before and after us. And while half our group went hiking, they took the other half for a tour of the pond in their boat. We really had an amazing experience here and will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much!
