The Oak Wigmore is a beautifully restored 16th century coaching inn. We serve fresh seasonal food in our restaurant and a range of local ales. If you’d like to stay the night, we have two spacious double bedrooms. Our rooms are clean, cosy and fully ensuite, with walk-in showers. We provide fresh towels and all you need to make yourself a hot drink (just let us know if you’d like fresh milk). And of course, there’ll be a good breakfast waiting for you in the morning.
Stayed one night as we had booked a table at the wonderful restaurant downstairs. Lene was really friendly and helpful, and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble. The room was really lovely and had everything we needed. Extra points for a superb breakfast included in the price too! Would most definitely recommend.
Beautiful place. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Dinner was absolutely fantastic, one of the best meals we have had and breakfast was amazing too! Lene and Rosie were really friendly and helpful. They looked after us brilliantly, nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for such a lovely stay.
There’s something very seductive indeed about the idea of a restaurant with rooms. It suggests an occasion of indulgence, where food is followed by feather (be it duvet or pillow) … and where sleep is the perfect dessert of the day. Such an all-round experience is exactly what Lene provides. The Oak, a beautifully presented, gastro-dining Inn, is complemented by two similarly beautiful rooms: each modern, fresh, convenient, and well-considered. Shelves, mirrors, plugs and lighting everywhere you need … a generous bed and a generous mattress … and a bathroom to suit even the most fastidious. Lene’s commitment to guest comfort is apparent from the get-go … having created a sense of space that is completely sumptuous without being intimidating. The restaurant and bar provide the sustenance (with a breakfast to write home about!), whilst the room provides the overnight refreshment: it’s as simple as that. Terrific!
Wigmore is a beautiful picturesque village nestled in the Welsh Marches of Herefordshire. Wigmore is best known for the 11th-century medieval castle ruins formally the home of William fitz Osbern, close associate of William the Conqueror and the Mortimers.
Wigmore is situated 7miles west of Ludlow, west of the beautiful Mortimer forest. Cars are recommended but you can take a train to Ludlow station and pre-order a Taxi which can take you directly to the pub.
