Launch your kayak out the back door and be on the St. Martins or Salt River in minutes. You can see dolphins and catch redfish, snook, seatrout and crabs. Clean them at your fish cleaning station. Harvest scallops in the nearby Gulf. Enjoy fishing, great paddling and relaxing! Very private feeling with outstanding views. Amazing sunsets, beautiful views of the marsh and river, great kayaking, yet only a 10 mile drive to town give you the best of both worlds. Enjoy the peacefulness at the house as you watch the sun rise over the water to the east, enjoy the screened porch for watching birds on the marsh, and finish your day by watching the glorious sunset over the water to the west. If you’re lucky, you may see manatees or dolphins in front of the house. Birdwatching here is excellent. Serene, peaceful, and full of wildlife, you’ll find our house and this area to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural world around you. Bring firewood and enjoy an evening sitting around the firepit in the beautiful environment. We have plenty of areas to enjoy outside- the deck, the firepit area, and the first story shaded wooden deck below the house, complete with a swing. High speed Wi-fi is provided, along with streaming tv via provided Roku. Log in with your own netflix/hulu account as a guest, and enjoy a movie night in. Stream, work, surf the internet and enjoy high speeds. Our compact kitchen is well equipped, and there is also a gas grill available. We have a regular drip coffee maker as well as a Keurig for your use- so bring your favorite coffee or enjoy the supplied coffee. Grab your cup and watch the marsh wake up from your screened-in porch. We will have all of the basics you need for a comfortable, homey stay. Spices and other essentials are supplied should you want to cook and dine at home. Please let us know if you have any special requests, and we’ll do our best to honor them. Extra touches like new memory foam mattresses make it feel like home. This romantic location is ideal for a couple! The cottage is very comfortable, yet on the small side at 800 sq ft and best suited for 2 guests, and maybe another person or couple if they really like each other. :) Kids love fishing off of the dock and catching crabs in the crab traps- and adults do too! Our neighborhood is very quiet and safe, as we are at the end of a short private road used only by a few neighborhood residents. We are within walking distance to John Brown Park, a large public boat landing for small boats. We have a small boat house for your small skiff/jon boat. NO v-hull boats, or boats longer than 17' can be accepted on property. A marina for larger boats is approximately a mile away. We have several different kayaks for your use- two sit-on-top kayaks, a tandem kayak, an older sea kayak (it moves well through the water!), two traditional sit-in 12-13’ kayaks great for our waters here or the local springs. Or feel free to bring your own kayak(s) to use, if you prefer. The water is perfect for small boats, kayaks, and skiffs. We will attempt to provide our personal kayaks and gear to our guests, and there should always be several available to you. We also will attempt to provide crab traps and other outdoor recreation opportunities, but cannot guarantee any of these items at specific times as other guests will use them as well and accidents or breakage may occur (but hasn’t yet!). This gear is for your use, and you are 100% responsible for yourself using the equipment. The host/owner assumes no responsibility for your actions in using the kayaks, or crab traps, etc, and you are expected to follow boating safety regulations when using the kayaks. The owner shall remain harmless in case of an accident or injury from these uses. Through normal use, if these items are damaged please let owner or property manager know right away so we can take it out of service. Ozello is a small community of friendly people, about a 10-15 minute drive from Crystal River. Three very good restaurants are within just a few miles of our house. The famous Peck's, local hangout Island Outpost, and Backwater Finn's all serve great food and drink with live music at times, and are located in Ozello. If you enjoy "Old Florida" living, you will enjoy your stay here in Ozello. When you reserve your stay, you will be asked if you agree to these few rules, so please note them: -Maximum of four guests! The house is small, with two beds total. -Two vehicles per stay. With the small road and one lane drive into our house, we can only allow a maximum of two vehicles. -No parties or unauthorized guests. Due to the size of the house, and being on a septic system, we cannot have more people at the house than on the reservation. Please let us know the names of all members of your party, for the reservation. -Sorry, no animals or pets. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any pets/animals in the home, due to severe allergies (this is also our home). A damage charge of $250 for extended cleaning must be assessed for any unauthorized animal. -No smoking or vaping allowed indoors. Due to homeowner’s allergies, and with all of the wood pilings, decking, stairs, boat house, etc, there is no smoking allowed anywhere near the house. Smoking will occur a $500 smoking remediation fee. A very short walk to the end of the driveway is all that is needed for our friends who smoke. -There are outdoor security cameras pointing to the road and house ingresses, but NO cameras indoors or in any of the living spaces outside. There is one camera facing the driveway, one towards the road on the other side of the house, and one at the back access. There is also a Ring doorbell at the front door. Your privacy is important to us. We are in a very safe neighborhood, but since we are away for long-ish lengths of time, we monitor the tides due to flooding and any unknown traffic on our private road while we are gone. Tampering with, obscuring, or dismantling these outdoor cameras will result in immediate cancellation of your stay without refund.
