The Moorings Inn is a locally owned, ocean-side, historic Inn with a rich history dating back to 1765. Located at the base of Somes Sound on Mount Desert Island, you can see all of the mountains of Acadia with clear views of the sunrise and sunset just from our backyard. We pride ourselves in our history, uniqueness, and this property's ability to make you disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! There is also a boat rental service on-site (Mansell Boat) that guests have priority for should they want a captained charter or to cruise around the island solo. Our location on the edge of Manset bay keeps our weather windy and cool, so we have no a/c in any units. Our Inn was built to be a personal house in 1765, and was turned into an Inn in 1916--- but has never lost its feel of a home! To respect its history, our Inn is filled with antiques, nautical themes, and many ship models. As with many historic Inns, the few families that have owned these buildings have worked hard to keep them as original and unique as possible--- so we are by no means modern-day chic, but are a unique boutique!
