Had a lovely stay in this characterful cottage which was clean, fresh and welcoming. Ideal location for visiting Shropshire. Host responded quickly to any questions we had beforehand.
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It was very spacious for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) and Sarah thoughtfully provided some extras like milk and biscuits for our arrival. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable and cosy. Our kids really enjoyed exploring theong garden and we're thrilled to go through the back gate and find a new play park on a publoc green space the other side.
Sarah’s place was a great location, very close to many places to visit. It was lovely and clean and homely. The boys loved the park at the back of the house- an added bonus. Thanks for having us and making us feel so welcome
Caedfel Cottage is in a very nice area for nature walks and meeting local dogs. Unfortunately there are no shops within walking distance, and the local pub was very unfriendly. The cottage itself was cute and spacious. The living room was very cozy, with a fireplace and good seating. Having 2 bathrooms was great, and the narrow but long back garden was a pleasure to step out into. The kitchen was a major disappointment. The pots and pans provided were very small and not thick bottomed. The non stick frying pan's handle isn't properly heat- isolated and one of us burned her hand quite badly while cooking with it. The sink is quite small with a tiny drying area that couldn't hold much, although this was alleviated a bit by the tiny but effective dishwasher. There were barely any cooking utensils, all knives provided were quite dull, no cooking basics (cooking oil, etc), and only one oven pan -- so this cottage is not the best suited for those who plan to cook a lot during their stay.
Horsehay is a pretty village on the edge of the Ironbridge Gorge. The area lies beside a spectacular wooded gorge, standing as a monument to British industry having the world’s first iron bridge that crosses the River Severn, completed in 1779 and opened to traffic in 1781. The area became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986 and remains an iconic feature of Britain’s industrial past. As Ironbridge Gorge is known for being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution it boasts a collection of no fewer than 10 industrial and Victorian themed museums. Alongside the history of the industrial revolution Ironbridge is also a bustling tourist town and has many pubs, restaurants, shops and tea rooms.
Horsehay is on local bus routes. Wellington and Telford central train stations are the nearest. The town is located a short distance from the M54.
