The house was a bit dirty - deadflies in rooms, some of the crockery in the kitchen was dirty. The top floor and towels smelt of cigarette smoke.

Positives - the location is amazing. Staithes also has some good eating options. We ate twice at the Cod and Lobster, which is a couple of minutes from the property. Also recommend Excelsior Fish and Chip shop at top of hill. Negatives - Tried to contact owner before arrival, but no response until after we had arrived. The front door was difficult to open. Hardly any toilet paper in the bathroom, which due to our evening arrival left us in a predicament. Contacted owner who promised more would arrive in the morning, but none ever came. The property was superficially clean, but oven tray was sticky and some very dusty areas (e.g. where internet router box is). Top floor smells musty and mould on curtains. One of the bedroom windows was jammed making it impossible to get rid of musty smell in top-floor bedroom. The heated towel rail is not properly fixed to the wall.

Lovely cottage very close to the harbour and the Cod and Lobster and warm coble pie with cream at Seaview Cafe 2 minutes walk away. Felt welcomed by the local people we met. Lovely walks from the house to the car park with views over Staithes and the harbour. We ate in most nights and the kitchen was sufficiently stocked to make this possible. Homely and modern with beautiful local art. Thanks for a lovely holiday Mr J M.
