Nate was lovely throughout and communication was excellent. The apartment is big and spacious, but goodness me is it noisy! Old pipes in the building coupled with the footsteps from the above flat, the boiler kicking in etc made for a not so quiet stay… This is expected in Brooklyn apartments though and not a reflection of Nate’s place directly… Amenities in the flat were great - lots of food products in the cupboards etc and a lovely kitchen with counter stools. Usually staying in Williamsburg we found the apartment with not much to do locally and had to head West to Greenpoint/Manhattan/Williamsburg. This isn’t an issue as there are two subway stations on the J Line within 10 mins walk of the apartment. Nates place was a great find.
Nate's is very spacious for a Brooklyn AirBnB. So spacious, in fact, that we moved our Thanksgiving dinner with our daughter and her family there. There are patios in the front AND the back (it was too cold to use them, but we would love to come back in summer and enjoy these amenities). The kitchen had everything we needed and the refrigerator and dishwasher were brand new. WiFi was great. TV had few local channels (e.g. we couldn't get the parade!) but we had success using my laptop and an HDMI cable. One word of caution: there are two nice bedrooms, but you have to walk through one to get to the other.

It was our first time to NY but not our first time staying at an Airbnb. The pictures were not accurate. There were several pictures not hung up. Mirrors were propped against a wall. Furniture in living room was ripped in several areas. The table was not there. No extra linens. The back porch area and front outside area was cluttered with workout equipment and not desirable areas to sit. Did not look anything like the pictures. The beds, like others mention, were very squeaky and not comfortable. Pillows are old and flat or lumpy. We were missing a pillowcase for one pillow. The picture listed of the bathroom was not for this particular unit. The neighborhood was nice. Walkable to the train. About 12 minute walk. The bodega across the street ‘Good Times’ was great! Very friendly and gave us delicious empanadas on the house!
Walkable distance from public transportation. Peaceful surroundings. But beds are a little bit uncomfortable and squeaky. Overall experience was great.

Native of Jamaica, living in Brooklyn for more years than I could ever count. A photographer in my former life and a Bed-Stuy resident for fifteen years. I have watched the neighborhood change and transform into a more diverse if not eclectic place. I love this place...for golf lovers its within twenty minutes of three golf courses (important) and within a fifteen minute train ride to Wall St. and 42nd Streets and beyond. Real New York is a collection of neighborhoods and Bed-Stuy is a fantastic choice. Finally, when I travel...I tend to be skeptical, if not downright critical of wherever I stay be it traditional hotels or Airbnb...I have the same attitude when hosting...I try to see myself as the guest...this ensures I offer the very best in comfort, safety and value. Our intent is to make you sad to leave.
