Such a lovely and peaceful spot on the lake. We swam at sunset lake nearby, as recommended by Cynthia, and it was wonderful. Cynthia was so welcoming, and the cabin was cozy and comfortable. Our dog loved it too!

Lovely and quite spot. We spent days exploring trails, back roads, swimming spots (Sunset Pond and Glen lake) in the area. meals were mostly take out, indian fare from Middlebury, actually very good american fare from Wheel Inn, and a Mish mash of what ever was fresh at general stores and farm stands. bring coffee if you are like me, both a press and grinder were at the camp. Our stay included some medical convalescence and we sought rest. My phone had no coverage at the house, but my partners did. Wifi was fine and though I didn't really work much, we did watch a Netflix productio.

The Last House on the Lake is a hidden gem. Our week was quiet, peaceful and full of nature. We saw three fox in one day, so many osprey, cormorants and bald eagle, were peeked at by so many turtles and wow, were the fish jumping! The grounds are beautifully landscaped with rock walls and flowers and the giant maple tree (it would take 4 people arm to arm to fit around its girth!) is spectacular. We brought our kayaks but the hosts have watercraft you can use. The paddling right from this location is gorgeous, including wildlife, many water plants, historic ruins and you even can paddle while a train is going by. So unique! The Barn where we stayed is beautifully rustic, well appointed and comfortable. Our well behaved dogs stayed with us and they had such a great time, too. Multiple places to have campfires and short hikes right from your doorstep. The Wheel Inn is a very short drive for very good meals and drinks if you don’t want to cook and be sure to visit Buxton’s store in nearby Orwell for smoked meats, ice and other grocery needs. What a wonderful place! We will be back again.

A slice of paradise, beautiful energy. This lil cottage was better than described and had many interesting & personal treasures to see. The property is peaceful and serene, RIGHT on Lake Champlain! We had the whole place to ourselves as the lovely hosts were away, and had easy communication w their caretakers. Kind offerings of milk/ yogurt/ muffins were left in the kitchenette, some firewood and a basket of toiletries in the bath if anything was forgotten. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend for four friends needing to reconnect 💎
